Just bought a new gmc sierra! *trip report post 247*

Short bed can still fit an engine, engine hoist, and 3 tires. Picked this stuff up from 1BEATK5.

I am going to have to stab you after all arent I? Whats that you said about you being a heavy sleeper???

Might as well put more pics in here! Hauled the Burb back to maaco today. The 12 did really good! The 12 weighed 6000lbs and the burb and trailer weighed 6900lbs.

They tow pretty well considering for a half ton. Mine is rated at 6100 lbs and I'm pretty sure I over loaded it with my 82. But you have a burb so I would think it weights more. :dunno:

5.3 w/ 6speed/axle ratio?

What gear/tow-haul selection did you use? Doesn't that have like a 4:1 low gear?

Yes. 5.3/6L80/3.42 and yes the 6L80 has 4.02 first gear. I just stuck the trans in tow haul and it worked perfect. This truck is rated to tow 9500 or 9700lbs. I cant quite remember. You can certainly feel it back there! But still as i drove i got more comfortable with it. The last time i hauled a suburban was with the 90 and i can tell you, the 12 hauled it a million times better! Pulling back out into traffic after stopping for the weigh station was a non issue. I never felt like the motor or trans were being overly taxed.

EDIT: from GMC.com for my specific truck.

GCWR, 3.42 Rear Axle (lbs.) 15,000

Max Conventional Trailering, 3.42 Rear Axle (lbs.) 9,500

5.3 and the 6 speed. It wasn't a rocket ship diesel off the line but it did fairly well. I feel towing isn't a race it's safely getting to your point.

Word. I just was mostly thinking of highway time. Mine is at like 1500rpm at 60mph. Yours has got to be even lower!

I want to say around 65 with the gearing and tires I'm around the same. Next time I get it up to speed I will post.

The 2011 is much faster with the 5.3/6 speed .3.08's and the 33's then the 82 with 3.08's 31's and a 700r"3" was.
