Just change rear gears for now?

Hey guys, I'm doing a 4" lift on my 84 K5 with 35's. I want to go to 4.56 or 4.88 gears, it's only going to be a highway rig for the time being, can I get away with just doing the rear gears now and the front later, as long as I keep it in 2WD? Thanks!

Remove the front driveshaft just incase you decide to "just try it out"

Yeah, you can do it, just don't use the 4wd and it will never know the difference.
