And if it wasn't for David I would still be out at Truckhaven Hills:o.

I was following a couple of the Tin Benders up a notch and well my heavy as pig of a rig did not take kindly too it. Total carnage of the 3 hours of the weekend I wheeled was 1 front Dshaft, 1 rear Dshaft and slip yoke, 1 208 output shaft, 1 208 case and 1 Warn 8000i winch.

I also killed both doors but did not break any glass. But it'll buff out:D.

Where I broke.

There is a ledge at my rear axle that is about 2-2.5ft high. They told me to bump it. First time I hit it I bumped it and when I hit I slid against the passenger door. The second time I bumped it I actually got ontop of the ledge and then BOOM!!!!!!!, I slid back down, DENIED the trail said:D.

What I broke.

In this pic you can see how much the tube twisted before it failed. The line on the shaft is the heat effected zone of the weld seam when the tube was made.

What got me out.

Since my winch smoked itself it took these 3 guys and a highlift to get my ass end above the ledge to get me out.

David drove 1 hour one way to put me on a trailer and drag my sorry ass back to his shop. Then he gave my daughter and I a room to stay in a we got warm showers:bow:.

Wow, pretty nice of David to help you out like that!

I did the same to a rear driveshaft at Blazer Bash. There is a nice ledge on Prichett that I smacked my rear driveshaft on...it folded up like yours did. I had a fixed yoke 205 though. No t-case damage, and once we got turned around and the remains unbolted I was able to drive out under my own power in front wheel drive. The hard parts I did need a tug or a winch line for, but they were not that often.

I got an uber beefy shaft built by Dirk the following day.

So what are your plans now?

Today we spent about 7 hours fixing the truck so I could get home.

We swapped cases after we learned I bent the output shaft and it now spun in an eliptical orbit rather than normal:doah:. We also found a new front shaft that my axle end would slid on and it was the right length.

Next we found a rear shaft that was 1350 on both ends with a slip yoke but it was too long. So we swapped my 56s around and put it all together, somehow we measured wrong and now the shaft was too short:doah:. But this was at full droop, we measured about 1/2" spline engagement at full droop but for the drive home it was determined to be OK as I was not bombing whoops through the desert:D. (It has about 3" engagment at ride height and I will have it lengthened before I go out again.)

More pics.
On the lift.

As I said earlier if it was not for David I would not be home today. I'll just say David gave me one hell of a deal since it was a "package deal". Thanks again David and Mel and Ben for helping me and my daughter out.

That is about all I got I dont know if anyone else has pics or video of my breaking. It was the best on of the day for about 5 minutes then one of the tin benders broke his frame and lost his front axle:eek1: taking a route around me.

And here is a pic of my new wheelbase. It is right at 110.5 and with a stock 14FF dif cover there is no tank interference as of yet.

Also all of my pics are clickable so they can be enlarged. They are all 1600X1200 so click away:D

im tryin to figure out why your axle is waaaay back there. I have 56s in the back of my blazer and im tryin to remember if i did short end in back or front...

Maybe im wrong, but on mine the axle isnt that far back. :dunno:

Sorry but for those not in the know, who's David?

It is an optical illusion because of how my fenders are cut. Before, I had the 26" side forward and with the flip the wheel was actually a little forward of the stock location. I pulled these in the junkyard myself from a C10 so I am positive they are 56s.

I will see if I can find a pic of the before axle location.
