Elongating the holes is really my only option here? That and maybe adding 1 more hole along the bottom of the frame rail? I do plan on powder coating these so welding on em' in place is not an option. Damn GM and their "This one's close enough....next" attitude lol. Sux cause I really was hoping that theyd' bolt right up.

Did you remove all the rivets underneath the frame horns?

Also, may check the frame horns for warps since it could have been wrecked and "straightened" out to "close enough".

I would explore all other options before elongating those holes. Both sides the same? Any frame damage?

A couple of mine were off a little but not as bad as yours. I enlarged all the holes on the side of the frame to 7/16" and it seemed to fixed most of my problems.

Yeah they are all removed. Here is a pic from the front. It sits flat on the frame. As far as wrecked in the past not sure, Ive only owned it 12 years.

The holes on both sides are off the same exact amount. Original post has both sides pictured. Everything "looks" straight and measures the same.

Sorry, my post should read that I enlarged the holes in BOTH the B52's AND the frame. :doah:

That is how my shackle flip looked. We ended up bolting the brackets on where we could, then ran a drill bit through the holes that didn't line up right. If I remember right, I think we spot welded them to the frame in a few places just for insurance too. I would go look for sure, but it was about 6 years ago and I sold that truck 3 years ago.

You'd have to drill them at the same time (installed) or you'd have the same offest problem. I would think the original bolts would be fine as long as you only go up 1/16" or so in diamter.

How about drilling both out to the next larger size and running a larger bolt.
Thats what I ended up doing. Had to go up 1 size on the bolts. I'd still like to know how both sides were off the same exact amount. To top it all off it cost me $14 for new nuts and bolts.

It looks like they are all off the same amount maybe Kurt needs a call on this see what he thinks might be a mock up issue or just your frame issue.

by looking at both pic #1 & #2 as 1 is upside down. i bet in pic #3 that the lower frame brace side peice shoffted and was welded incorrectly. as both brackets are off about the same.

if your frame is off that much possible he can make another set and not weld this peice on. then you can bolt it all up and weld it were you need it.

but like i say i bet somthing shifted and thay are welded in the wrong area.

Isn't much chance for anything to shift during production.

Fixures are pretty basic and don't allow for any kind of adjustment so I'm not sure what to think right off the top.

I will certainly investigate this though. I have a old chevy frame chunk at the shop to compare to and will do so ASAP.

That being said, are you all working with a 73-80 like the original poster?

Bolt pattern for 1981-1987(91) is entirely different and a different fixture all together.

No worries I got er' fixed. I re-read your "tech tips" http://www.diy4x.com/tips/B52.html on your site and it even said that he had to do the same thing. Others said they had to modify theirs as well. Your tech tips article says that no two frames are alike.

I'll be looking into this a bit deeper anyway.
