I'M SO CONFUSED CAN SOMEONE JUST WALK ME THROUGH IT, IVE SEARCHED THIS BUT JUST CONFUSED MYSELF ON ALL I HAVE TO DO.

So i just want to have heat in my rig, floor and defrost.

I just need a simple description of what i have to do to complete this. If i get a Mojave heater doesn't it have a hook up for a defrost? I want to get rid of the dash vents.

What do need to do for wiring?
Hook up for defrost, can i use old vents for defrost, and how do i power it?

Do you have the factory tubing or has it been removed?

Easiest I think would be to use the factory system. If you are missing parts pic some up from junkyard, eBay, here, etc. Then just block off the dash vents. Duct Tape would work. If you wanted to be fancy you might be able to find some rubber plumbing caps to fit:thinking: Heck, the plastic caps should work as well. Shouldn't have to glue them on either.

Maybe I should mention I'm talking about pulling the vents out of the dash and capping off the inside tubes. Not throwing Duct Tape all over the dash pad:laugh:

The mojave heater has great reviews from members on this board. I believe it has 2 differant out puts that should be easy enough to plumb into the stock setup for defrost/ heat
 
Ryoken's build thread has info on the Mojave. If he endorses it that's good enough for me:D

So if you go with the Mojave I'm sure there is tubing you can buy from them. I would use their tubing all the way to the last piece of factory plastic. The floor vent and the defrost vent and there you go:D

yeah, the summit version has a hose kit available to plumb the 2 3" round ducts to wherever you want... You can basically gut the whole system and just leave the plastic y-tube that goes to the 2 defrost vents....

It is all stock, where shoudl i start to do what you said RYOKEN. Thats what i want to do but where to start and what to take out is the question??? thnaks for responding by the way
 
Both but ac does not work, i think that its missing the ac clutch, by the way is that easy to buy???( the clutch) but yeah its all stock for both.

well, you can go with a factory heat only unit...


to run my setup, you gut everything heat related... you'll now have a hole in the firewall... i think there's covers you can buy on ebay, or sheetmetal it yourself... mount the heater where you want, plumb the 2 coolant hoses to it, run the ducts how you want..

electrical is super simple.. fused power, a ground, then just mount their switch..

fair amount of work, but pretty straight-forward and frees up lots of space...

ac clutch is simple... Ya sure you want to ditch the ac? couple hundred bucks at your local shop might have it back up and running....

ryoken what do i have to do to hook the heater up to my heating source?
 
you'll take the 2 heater hoses that come off you engine and rad, that are currently going to the stock heater core connections at the firewall and hook them up to the 2 fittings on the summit unit...

you'll have to replace the hoses, as they will be too short... the old ones only go to the firewall, the new ones will have to go thru the firewall and to the summit heater that is now inside...
 
can i leave all that stuff on my firewall and still have the mojave hookup?

Umm, shouldn't you be fixing the front end that needs a thousand dollars worth of everything 'fore you change something that currently works? :rolleyes::confused::crazy:

I know, i was jsut interseted in it for future plans and i have already made progress on my repair but thanks for your good imput.
