Just how much money have you dumped into that GM Truck?

look at it this way, it would cost about 30k or more for a new 4x4 truck.....and i still like my 89 jimmy better!
Exactly, so I still have about $25k left to go, and I already have a decent rig.

Up to around $4000 and some change. $1400 for the Jimmy, $2400 on the new engine $240 for the windshield, $130 or so on the exhaust, add up small stuff like my new TV cable, bracket, power steering pump, water pump, alternator, battery, motor mounts, distributor, fuel pump, gaskets, fluids, chemicals...

wow it just keeps adding up doesn't it. Once I get this TV cable problem fixed dropping the tank and new rear shocks.

3500 was the price motor is only at 60000. It was rebuilt at 117000 miles. Looking to keep it stock looks wise but I want it to beable to take anything on. In time im still thinking about the motor if I want to build up the 350 or swap for a 5.3. It also needs couple patches to get rid of the cancer in the bed and floor pans. Looking into rebuilding the chasie to.

My K5

I really don't know, probably close to 4K not counting the $1100 to buy it on this site. Its been a great experance and I would do it all over again. I still plan on spending probably 3K on it over the next few years: newer drive train, rooksliders, tire carrier.

$10,000

Purchased it for $3500.....
Tax
License
Airfare and Gas to/from Seattle
Parts....lots of parts!

Have about $100 left! Really thought I was going to have a fully painted vehicle and a restored interior with that much money. Oh how nieve!

It IS reliable at this point though......

Yea this is my thinking too, I had a 2004 duramax that was costing 500 a month AND depreciating 5 or so K a year :eek1: AND while it was a good looking wine color extra cab, it just blended in with the crowd , I mean no one came up and said things like I get everyday now "WOW nice looking Blazer" and "I had one years ago etc etc etc".

I may have 15k "or so" in it (its the "or so" that gets you haha:whistle:) but no payments and although I may not get it out if I had to sell it today, it has finished depreciating years ago. Besides none of them are getting better than 22 mpg, I even run biodiesel in it for a 50 cent a gal discount so then it isn't even more than buying gasoline:rolleyes:.

I don't miss seeing myself coming and going on the highway, everybody has a new chevy or furd and payments. boring!:thumb:

I paid 5 for my truck, put @1500-2k in it while we lived in Ohio still (including the swampers), then paid 1500 to get it to Hawaii where I have since dropped about 4k and have a whole lot more $$$ before it's done. And now I have a damn timeline to follow... Has to be able to get itself to the docks by June of next year!

Man..id hate to think what ive got into my truck. Id say over 10k easily. And ive got about another 4-5k id like to dump into it. Ive still got stock motor and tranny and trans case. Im running on souped up 10bolts front and rear. Ive put 2 sets of tires on, thats 2k right there. LIne X interior , thats 800bux. Ive got 1000-1200 in front and rear axles (new chromoly shafts, locker, gears, seals, etc). The list is long and lengthy, lol.

Cost of my truck was 3k about 10years ago.
