Just our of curiosity, your opinions on the Dodge Ramcharger?

they are pretty solid, gm axles are a direct bolt in, and a 350 will fit under the hood with ease, so will a th350.np208 combo. I knwo this first hand as I did it with my 83 :)

One of my Buddies has one. He does pretty good with it. He drives that thing like a maniac too. Cool thing is he does it all with hand controls. His legs never developed and uses a wheelchair. But behind the wheel of that thing he drives like Rod Hall. He's running a shackle flip on the rear with a junkyard D60 and 4" springs up front on the D44. Now he's got 34" LTB's too. When the pic was taken it wasn't lifted and had cheesy 33" a/t rubber.

I do like the one piece liftgate. Wish K5's had that.

Here's when he darn near laid it on it's side with me riding shotgun...

That's awesome! Good for him!

I kinda like them. I thought it was weird how they had a removable top and full doors though. My friend had one in Washington that was pretty nice had 32s with no lift.

Before I bought my Blazer, I was looking at an '87 Ramcharger. He couldn't decide wether he was going to sell or not. Kept flip-flopping. After I bought my truck, he settled on selling it. I don't think I could've gone wrong either way. After having owned different vehicles from Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and AMC (Wagoneers, Cherokees, J-10 P'ups). They ALL have problems. My preference is to GM. The Ramcharger wouldn't have been bad either. Just my own thoughts.

yea were gonna set it up pretty close to mine so it will do good offroad

once you get your 60, he wont be able to touch your chevy;)

the pic of the dodge in that 4wheeler link looks sick

my dad had an 87 ramcharger that I always thought was pretty cool. it was gonna be my first truck but when I was 14 my stepmom took it to work without my dad knowing about it and traded it for a ptcruiser:mad: . Ive never seen my dad get that pissed off. he was so mad he didnt talk for nearly a week. it had somewhere around 150k on the original 318 with no major problems except for the front axle engagement that didnt work sometimes, it was super gutless and got about 4 mpg. Id still like to have one but I dont see me giving up my chevy for one anytime soon:D

He's pretty cool. Plus he'll out wrench me and our other freind any day. He'll just jump inside under the hood and go to town or underneath. Welds pretty darn good too. He never let his disability get him down.

Only seen him freaked out once on the trail. Drove around a switchback on a snowy mountain trail to find his J20 Jeep being held from sliding down by one lone pine tree. But then it freaked us out too when we found him like that. A couple of pulls from the winch had him tearing it up again..

To me I appreciate any old iron out on the trail. My buddy's Ramcharger was an ex sherrif's truck that somebody else painted. No carpet, stripped for options. If it's out on the trail getting used thats all that matters!

I had a 79 RC with a 360 in it, totally stock. Was going to build it up, but it left me on the side of the road more times than all of my other cars combined. The RC had a lot of problems. Sold it and bought my 78 Jimmy, and I couldnt be happier!

When I was looking for a cheap truck to go wheeling with, I found an 82 (I think, cant remember) Government Surplus Dodge Power Wagon. It had all the good stuff, D60, 4-spd. .. and a 318. Only thing that stoped me from further pursuing the purchase were the automatic hubs...

The Mopar 318 has got to be one of the best gas engines of all time. It's solid as a rock, does ok on fuel, and makes decent power.( it will crap on a 305 Chevy).

Chevy has always been weak in the rear end department with Half tons. An 8.5" 10B vs. a 9.25" Mopar rear and venerable Ford 9". Way better 1/2t gear from Dodge.

I'm a Mopar converted man myself, grew up on Chevys and surfing CK5, but one run in a Cummins powered Ram and it was all over for me....

Ramchargers are awesome. Although if you think our blazers are wide my buddys 91 measured about 2" wider in the rear. His 91 is a fuel injected 360 727 trans divorced 241 t-case and a 9.25 and a D 44. Thats hard to beat as far as stock stuff goes the 9.25 rear is way strong, and the D 44 has flat top knuckles. It now has 60s, The engine crossmember is huge and it is hard to do xover steering if you don't have more than 6"s of lift. His has only 4" of lift and 40" Iroks.

He has beat on it hard for 2 years without hardly any whimper from the truck, although now it is in need of some major work(mostly the removel of the huge body for some tube work)
