Just purchased a 90 blazer. Can anybody help identify what lift it has?

My immediate plans are to lower it down to clear the 35” tires while getting rid of as much lift as possible. The body is clean but I know I will need to trim it to be able to lower the lift. Could I use parts that are already on it or would it be better to start fresh?
I’m looking for a 14bff in Orange County if you know of any for sale
Thanks in advance

If you change the lift, you’ll have to change the front springs, all the shocks, the steering

And you’ll still have to trim

4" lift. I'd ditch the rear blocks and swap it for a 4" shackle flip. Frankly, I'd leave the lift, do some trimming and suspension tuning and run 37's.

I see that it has the frame repair plate behind the steering box. Depending on how you use the truck, a bolt-on brace from Offroad Design would be a good thing to keep from having problems in the future. Also, make sure that you check the steering box mounting bolts every once in a while, more often if you wheel it hard. A front locker works it harder, unless you add hydraulic assist to the steering.

The springs that you have are probably stiff, but you are wanting to drop it down some, you are probably going to get new ones anyway. I personally like custom springs for a good ride, but they are more expensive. You could disconnect the front sway bar from the axle U-bolt plates, tie it up and see how that affects the ride. You may get some body roll, but it should ride better by not binding the movement of the springs.

If you aren't going to use it really hard, I would look for a 6 lug semi-floating 14 bolt axle. But it will require welding on new perches.

Measure from the top f the front axle tube to the bottom of the frame rail. Stock is around 9"

Looks to me like closer to 6” lift based on how its dwarfing 35’s, and that the 4” raised steering arm is still not brining the draglink flat reads me to believe more than 4” lift.

looks like a 4" Rough country, also looks to me to be a Dana 44 in front. If it were 6" I don't think the stock rear brake hose would fit. Looks like it has two overloads on rear springs.

I'd say either a 4" or 6" lift. Steering stabilizer looks like it will hit at full turn....

Try and find a model number on the Bilstein shock, that also might help.

Not necessarily stock rear hose. There is a part number floating around that is a longer rubber hose that will bolt right in with correct fittings. Back in the day I use to run that hose with 8” of lift before I switched to SS braided lines. Good rubber hose that was cheap to get you back on the road

Since nobody asked, can you see any numbers printed on top of the front leaf springs? Or a sticker on the front springs? I think it may be a 6" lift. That looks like too much room in the wheel wells to be a 4" lift with 35s

The mounting point for that hose has been moved way up.

I agree on the overload. Probably a 4" block with a 2" add a leaf

Thanks everybody. So after measuring the distance from the axle tube and frame (thanks for the tip) it is definitely a 6” lift. Not too sure what brand as I can’t find any markings or stickers on the leafs. I should degrease and clean everything to inspect better. After reading everybody’s comments Im probably going with a 4” shackle flip and some tuff country ez ride springs. Not too sure if the springs on the back are stock or not so I’ll probably need rear leafs as well.

what color are the front leaf bushings ? this sometimes helps i.d. the brand.

the rear has a 4" lift block size block . but also a add-a-leaf for around 2" extra but they make the ride real stiff and not let the spring flex much at all .

thats a old set of front springs as i have not seen a 6 leaf pack in a long time . i had one and it was stuff until i pulled 2 leafs from each pack . but i also didnt need all the lift at the time . mine had yellow bushings when i started with the used springs and thats always been superlift color from what i have found . but who knows for sure .

i like my tuff country for off the shelf made ride quality . and if money is no object and you want the best ride offroad design has springs built to there specs after you answer there questions and the guys here love them .
