just swapped in a th400 and no upshift.

AC and cruise controll are tapped off of there.. neither of which i use.. if i unplug the one for the AC will my heat still work?

I believe so since the whole system is a HVAC system. If you don't use your CC just unplug that and tap that.

problem is solved.. it shifts nice and hard, but im starting to re think the decision to install everything with a high stall toque converter..

High stall convertors belong in hot rods and race cars, not a 6000 lb. truck for low speed use (defeats the purpose of the use of your rig).
