It is really cool having it off. Definatly going to have to do it more this summer. Just a few questions thanks
After taking off the seat belts and visible bolts, there were still 2 hiddin bolts in the back by the tail posts, I had to take the rear side (by the speaker) off to get the bolts out. My question is do i have to put those 2 back in? Is it ok to leave those 2 out and just use the 17 bolts that are visible? (down the sides and around the top) Also is there any easy way to explain to me an easy way to get the top on and off with 2 people. I didn't expect it to be that heavy, it was akward because its so big. it was fine once we got it on the ground. I'm thinking of using a latter this time and rest it on my spare tire until one of us get in the back and then just lift it into place.

Thanks

Yup, they are heavy buggers! I hurt my shoulder trying to lift mine onto my 4" lifted K5 once :doah:

Now I just use the bobcat :haha:Oh, and don't worry about the two hidden bolts, they don't need to go back in.

It helps if you have four people on the outside and one inside to steer the top into place. it will take the stress off everyone's back

4 or 5 people isn't a bad idea, yeah I think I'll get more people to help me get in back on, I can't imagin how difficult it is for the guys with really big lifts, I'm gonna lift mine 6 inchs so after tires to it will be about 9 inches taller and I think that will make it much harder to take on and off. can't imagin the guys with 12+.

I wish I had a bobcat or a big garage that i can rig up one of those pulley systems that you just attach it to the cap and lift it right up and off the truck.

thanks for the tips.

I used to take the top off and put it back on by myself back in the day. This was with my stock height '77. It was a pretty finicky process...

On my old Jimmy it had ~5" of lift and 35's when I first took the top off. I managed to get it off by myself and didn't drop it...but I needed help getting back on. I ended up building a pulley hoist.

leave it off. my bedrail is up to my chin on the k5 and i can say its never going back on.

i dont know about every1 else but i put all the bolts back into the cab so it does not leak and i only put 3 bolts in on each bed rail (1 in the front close to the cab 1 in the middle and 1 close to the tailgate. and as far as the top me and my girl take it off by our selves, she likes to go topless:laugh:. i back up close to my other truck and we both slide it onto the pickup bed and thats it.

I do the same thing. Back it up to my Dad's parked one ton and pick it up like a table (2 ppl) and carry it over onto the truck by just walking in the beds. Sometimes I clamp it down so it doesn't go anywhere whilst on the truck

looks good

Dont think I've ever had more then two people to pull the top off mine. One person is doable just takes some effort now that its lifted. Also I'm pretty sure my top only has 6-7 bolts holding it on
