K-5's in Hollywood Thread!

Just get a Delorean and add the FC yourself...

http://cgi.ebay.com/BACK-TO-THE-FUTU...QQcmdZViewItem

that's one of the best looking FCs i've seen. but $220 :eek1:? at that price, he'd better have a money-back guarantee. "if you don't get chased by crazy guys in a van, go back in time, make your dad's bully crash into a poop truck and then make out with your mom, you get a full refund." :deal:

well, in the real world, the aerodynamics are less than amazing by today's standards, the american version of the engine only made about 130 hp because of emissions junk, and it had a heavy stainless steel body. the end result is a 0-60 time you measure with a calender :haha:. and since it looked like a hardware store puked on the back of it, all that stuff would add weight. i'd just be excited to get it to 88 at all.

Mainly it was the motor... the body itself *probably* wasn't that heavy, as it was fiberglass with thin SS panels added on. In fact, there are a few non-SS Deloreans out there, they're just rare.

The aerodynamics aren't that bad. That car is DAMN low. You ever stand next to one? I didn't think I'd fit in one!

I think it'd just suck if you parked it in a parking lot, and then somebody parked on either side of you... :haha: Those gullwing doors need a bit of room to open as I recall.

Has the new Arby's commercial been mentioned yet? :p:

I remember a movie with Michael Dudikoff (sp) with a lifted K10 in it. Can't remember the name of movie though. :doah:

Checked Google and think its Avenging Force.

Saw a movie today called Firestorm with Howie Long. There was a 3/4 'burb in it that was being raced through the forest fire and jumping a lot of stuff. Looked like fun except for the whole you're gonna die thing.:D

On the funny Delorean stuff, I met somebody that was in the process of "mirror" polishing the stainless body panels on their DeLorean! I'd hate to see the sun glare off that in traffic!!!:eek1::D About the crashing of vehicles in movies, it makes me really sad sometimes!:( I think of the great vehicle, or the great parts!

Just follow the gas tanker trucks. the ones around here are stainless and man they'll really blind ya

oh I forgot.... I saw an article online where someone dropped a V8 in a Delorean. :D

yeah, i've heard of someone doing that. i've also heard of a 3-rotor wankel engine getting swapped in.

i'd rather just have a stage II delorean engine to keep it all semi-original. however, supposedly the old 130hp number is net while the 196 or 197 they're claiming for the stage II modded engine is without parasitic power loss. sort of false advertising. still, if people are actually seeing dyno results of 130-135hp at the wheels, then it's obvious that the upgrade is worth something, even if the net is much lower than 197-ish.

the old school lead sleds did the polish thing, they would polish the bare metal and clear it...rolling mirror...it was outlawed in the 50's..i was told b/c of glare...all our gas tankers are dirty as heck..if it polished up shiny clean, its ussually some kind of food grade sum'n another

thread's gone stale but i'll add another. terminator 2 "extreme edition". they're at the hot dog stand and right before john connor tries to get the terminator to smile like a dufus, a yellow (that weird 80s mustard color) k5 drives off.

Was flipping channels the other day on the Scifi channel there was a flick named " Route 666" or somesuch. Starred Lou Diamond Phillips. Basically there was an abandoned road out west somewhere that was populated by zombies. Teh local sheriff and deputies drove pre '76 K5s.

I also was watchin a movie and noticed an old K-truck. Can't remember what movie it was now. Damn memory

Thanks for the heads up Randy. I'll keep an eye open for it when it comes on again.:D

Payback. A black, early 90's (?) Suburban driven by Chinese gangsters gets an Uzi (?) treatment by Mr. Gibson himself.

argue over color

my dad had 1 of those yellow c-10's...it said heavy half on rear 1/4 panels, he bought it from the ahtd(arkansas hiway&transpotation dept) it was not bright..''safty yellow', but indeed yellow. i had several friends called/swear'd it was orange...i even put an orange(fruit) up next to it to show em it wasn't orange...they said its more orange than yellow...looked dark yellow to me...i'd like to find/see what color gm called it.

Dawn of the Dead (the old one). when they fly the chopper over the "rednecks" who are hunting the zombies for sport, there are several gm military trucks and at least one civi k5.
