my brother had the 12 bolt rebuilt about 3 to 4 yrs ago, (six states). i started smelling gear oil burning and looked back and it has oil every where around the yoke and under the bed. is it the gears going bad or can i just tighten the pinion nut?
Carefull with that though, last time I did that I toasted my axle in a month, the nut sets the preload on the crush sleeve, and shouldn't be messed with without checking the drag after torquing it.
