K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

Heavy trucks do fine in the dunes.

Wades weighs 7k...

Yeah but this kind of weight is unnecessary weight, like a full 1/2" thick belly skid.
I'll figure it out and you guys know me. If I decide to do it I won't hold back. It'll be gutted and changed in no time.

I really hope you don't do it. I know you would be able to do to it, but that truck was purpose built for a certain use and does its job well. Be simpler to start from scratch than dismantle a great truck.

Hey Avery. Amazing build man. I just finished reading through it. I plan on doing some similar things to my 74 k10. I've already picked a 79 hp 60 and WFO crossover. Next is 14 bolt and np205.

Do you have any updates on this rig? Shed some weight and coilovers?

No updates. It just sits beside my parent's house these days.
Work, side jobs, and a girlfriend have kept me more than busy this past year.

Right on, life does tend to get in the way of projects...

I just picked up a 205 for my truck. Going to check out a 14 bolt, 241 and a 4l80e this weekend. Hopefully score a package deal.

I might of missed it but did you ever box your frame?

Gut it....Light trucks do good on trails too...Less drive line breakage. Keep the weight low and centered. Switch materials on the skid to ar400 and make it thinner.

What's the weight of the truck now?

This truck does great on the trails as it sits.
It's already super low and the weight is pretty dang even. :)
Only reason I'd gut it would be to make it a "go fast" sand truck but that ship has sailed. It's been a year since we talked about that and I'm over it.

I don't believe you.. go fast is in yer blood.. no ship shall sail tonight.. old timer..
Ha! I just meant the ship has sailed as far as making this truck anything other than what it currently is.
I'm very fortunate that my dad works for a huge motor sports dealer and we can snag brand new side by sides to take to the dunes. That scratches my go fast itch these days.

Hey guys. How about I work on this thing again. :-)

Been gathering parts. It works so well and hardly ever needed attention mechanically so I figure it needs some cosmetic help. I've started slowly spreading the word that for the right price I'd sell it so I'm going to start fixing it up and wheeling it until that situation arises.

Bought a new front clip. Stripped and pressure washed it down to just what I needed.

Pulled the front bumper and pressure washed everything.
I'll start swapping the new clip on this week and get going on a new half door for the passenger side.
We have an awesome wheeling event in a couple weeks we always go to so that's my deadline.

I stripped the front end off the truck. Then @chevysmithz71 came over and helped me get the new front end situated. It's all pretty close, I just need to align the hood tomorrow after work.

Making progress. Got the hood aligned, relocated the trans cooler, rerouted the wiring harness, fixed/replaced the busted lights and all the adjusters, and mounted the radiator, overflow, and ARB compressor.
Then mounted the awesome sauce grill. I love that it looks like a truck again.

I'll trim fenders tomorrow and then start on a fresh bumper.
