K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

So, what have you been doing? I didnt get to talk to you today but I know you have to move fuel lines, fuel cell, tube dash, and get that tbi going.

Cool, Hey check your Email PM.

Nothing has come through.

Nice work Avery........that rigs a bad mofo!

Thanks.

Fuel pump is mounted and grounded, throttle body is permanently bolted down, distributor is in and ready to go and just some little detail stuff. I have the new fuel lines, filter and mounting stuff, just need to run it all. I need to weld in the O2 sensor then I can plug the harness in and under the hood will be completely done. I'm busy this week so I wont get back on it until probably Thursday.

DIY4X box showed up today. Thanks Kert, looks good as usual.
Oh and this fire extinguisher mount is one of the best deals on the market right now. :waytogo:

Wrapped up some small stuff today. Mounted and wired/plumbed the MAP sensor up on the firewall, wired the crank signal to the computer, attached the engine grounds to the back of the head out of the harness, routed and plugged in the harness to my 700r and cleaned up the rest of the factory wiring over by the brake booster.

(I know it looks like I keep posting the same picture of the engine but I am really doing stuff) :)

Then tonight we spent a little time picking up the garage and moving stuff around to clear some space to get the bender out and in the middle with room to work since that stuff is next. Made a spot to get material up and off the floor too which is nice, I'm tired to stepping on it.

All that's left is to run the fuel lines which I'll do tomorrow then I'll get on the rear cage work so I can get the fuel cell back in and test fire it.

Tube time! This should be a slow but steady kind of deal. One piece a night and I'll be happy.

Everything lines up nice.

Day two and I'm still on track, one more tube done. :)

I also ordered some cool stuff that should be here tomorrow or Friday, I'll post a pic when it shows up.

Good job getting the tubes to fit tight!

That's all I really work on. Cutting the tube to length and the first notch are quick, it's getting the second notch and overall length perfect that sucks up the time.

We lost a few days worth of stuff in the great CK5 server hiccup of 2012 so I'll get us back up to speed...

Day three was good, I got another tube in.

Also these came in from the vendor ion here on the board. The dash build is coming up next so I splurged and got these for it.

Today I got the cage painted and put the fuel cell back in. I ran fresh feed/return lines all the way from the cell up to the throttle body and got them all secured. The fuel pump and filter are in too.

So now it's pretty much back inside the cab. I need to get going on the interior cage which will also be my dash. Once that is along far enough to get some electrical work going I can hook up the last few wires inside for the fuel injection and test fire it.

Looks good man!

Only 1 comment. Sure you are good with those spring clamps for fuel lines?

I'd sure use screw style ones, or the Fuel Injection style ones. Know your lines aren't high pressure, but still. For fuel, think its worth the extra few dollars.

I got the screw style (and used them up at the throttle body) but my fuel injection kit came with these for the fuel pump and filter so I used them.

I was kinda scratching my head too but they felt really tight and wouldn't pull past the flare on the pump lines or filter lines so I ran with it.

Now I'll probably get all paranoid about it though and have to change them. :)

Haha, fair enough. I've started using those fuel injection style ones everywhere fuel related, just cause they are so much better.
Comparison, for those unaware of this style:

Those spring ones should be fine though. Really, no hose clamp probably wouldnt' leak at these low pressures.

Piece of advice here Avery. On the tube work ( which looks great by the way) you are leaving a long span unsupported on your b pillar. I used to so this too. Thing is in a hard roll over ( multiple) like you might get at the dunes, its hard for that unsupported span to stay straight.

I realize you start getting into the jungle gym effect but something to break up the span on the top of the b pillar would be good, doesn't even have to be same size tubing.

It seems like a common thing in hard roll overs where that b pillar top is not at least broken up into 2 spans instead of the single span
