K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

If you ditch the core support, do you just make custom mounts for the radiator and headlights?

Just mount it to the front tube that makes up the engine cage. Those slim procomp lights I run up front have a fluted lens so I can technically run them on the street as headlights (I kind of do now anyways) and just ditch the stock headlights. But as usual I'll cross that bridge someday when I get there. I want to keep it looking as much like a truck as possible. I still have those bedsides to put back on someday too.

Looks scary. :eek1:

I'm sure they will turn out good just like the rest of the stuff in this build. :thumb: I'm sure that your visibility on the trail will be way better too.

I thought you were keeping the cab sealed/enclosed? :dunno:

I have another set of doors I can bolt on if need be. I'm going to have some soft windows made up for these when I'm done though so if the weather turns bad while the half doors are on I'm not stuck.

I think it would be cool to make some sort of mounting system to be able to mount a clear lexan or plexiglas window. Seems like there was a Dodge truck build thread on Pirate where a guy did that. I think it was someone from Alaska.

Yep. It looks like his thread is gone, but i found this pic.

I was thinking someone on here did this, but I'm not remembering who it was.

I'm envious of that wiring, the rest looks alright too I guess :flipoff7:

I know who you guys are talking about. He deleted his thread because he felt like he was enabling people to go find his supposedly secret trails and destroy them, kind of a weirdo.
But yeah he has bolt in plexi windows.

I will never understand people of that nature. What the sam h#ll is fun about driving trails by yourself? How can that possibly be entertaining. The best part about trails and mudding and blah blah is other people, watching them tear something up, you betting you can do it without tearing something up, and then promptly tearing something up. I have yet to figure out how to have fun by myself.

While I enjoy having company on trips, I also really enjoy the solitude of the backcountry and sometimes go alone just to have some quiet. I suspect it also depends on terrain, though. Out in the West we have enormous vistas. I suspect in places that are more flat and covered in trees, that it would be less interesting - but I wouldn't know.

I've seen a few snap on half door windows.

I was thinking about using some clear plastic like from a soft top and making some roll down type windows. :dunno:

It's going to be interesting to see what you come up with Avery. I'll probably copy it. :D

isenglass and snaps at local marine canvas co.. lemon squeezy...

Thats Dusty,He is kinda a weird dude. I sold him the rockwells on his rig and another set I had. He really thinks highly of himself hahaha the places he goe are not hidden our that extreme there all Mining trails ome old some still in use.

his truck really isn't all that special , the tube work is nice but the suspension is pretty close to stock minus the coilovers.

Anyways, he got rid of his doors that he had done like that and went to a tube door after he crunched the cab

Made it this far on the doors. I'm going to cut some aluminum panels and rivet them to the inside to finish them off for now. I am flat out of time at this point as I have other stuff to get done before we leave next weekend to head up to the mountains so I just made some pull handles to work the latches. When I have more time I'll get something flat and sink them in and make it look a little better, oh and fill in the door handle hole too. :)

Overall I'm happy with them. They're really rigid with the 1" square tube frame on the inside and I shaved a lot of weight too.

A local upholstery shop said they do quite a few truck bed covers and knew exactly what I was talking about as far as a clear window that snaps in. They said it'd be about $200 if I just drop the doors off as is. They'd rivet in the snaps around the doors and sew up some windows. Not sure if I'll do that before we go but it's an option.

Looks like they'll do the trick. I say those nice big pockets will hold some trail stuff or just random things you like to be near by. Until you get crazy and beat them in more:)
