K10 gets an ass transplant

How many times does that shittybuilt get to let you down before you kick it to the curb...?
I hear ya. I might have exaggerated a bit when I said it breaks every time I use it. I pulled up some fence posts last month just fine and I pulled a car up on a trailer once. It’s not a complete POS, you just can't use to for vehicle recovery :haha:

The pictures never really show the severity of situation very well.
That is a for damn sure

guy over on 67-72 board just installed his new out of the box winch and it was doa 1 direction . same brand . http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=739252

so how do you like the feel of the arb over other stuff ? .... i cant wait to get mine going and play with it .

does it pull on the gas in a direction when engaged ? fast in/out of locker ?

Figures on the winch… Probably one step above a Harbor Freight winch. I’ll probably fix it and use it for a while longer until a real winch can find its way into the budget. Last time it broke like this the part was only like $15 but it is a lot of labor as the rear bumper has to come off to get the winch out then take it apart to replace the POS piece

Well, I love the ARB airlocker and compressor so far! I’m sure the locker would still make the truck dart all over the road when on and off the throttle but no need to drive it on the road now that the locker can be turned off when not needed. Only use it when you need it on the trail….but ya, the engagement and disengagement is instant. You barely hear a little clunk when it engages but makes a really cool noise when it disengages where it sounds like the blow off valve on a turbo car… Pppppcheeewwww! Must be the locker solenoid dumping air. I could probably cycle the locker on and off next to some punks in a Honda and they would think the old pig is boosted :haha:

The video don't do it justice. Spooks me just watching it shift to the right. I'm glad we pulled the plug on that and backed down once we got your butt out of the frying pan. Live to fight another day..

Cross referencing Rob’s post with his GoPro Video of the extraction. Before the winch Nazi’s start, (I know this isn’t Expedition Portal where everybody is an “arm chair recovery expert” but…still want to throw out a disclaimer. LOL) my winch has synthetic rope rigged to a strap to a bundle of 3 or 4 trees. 1 of them was over a ft. in diameter but one of the smaller trees broke at the 2:02, which was quite funny as Rob nonchalantly looks up and goes back to playing with his tool :haha:. We did throw a blanket over Rob’s wire winch cable, which you can barely see.

Another fine mess you got us into @ZooMad75 :haha:

Nice work, folks. Having a pre-mounted camera is nice, eh? Glad it was pointed the right direction. ;)

The pull right and left with an ARB engaged is much much less than with a Detroit. Keep in mind when an ARB is locked it's a spool. We went from a Detroit in the rear of the Race car to the ARB specifically to gain handling in the desert becaause the locking and unlocking of the Detroit caused handling issues.

Once you get used to ARB's you won't go back, locked front unlocked rear is the good stuff for rock crawling.

Welp, @ZooMad75, myself and a few others are off like a turd of hurdles first thing in the morning. Meeting one truck from AZ and another from CA tomorrow night in Moab then hitting the trail Monday morning near Green River

Follow us along on SPOT GPS for the week. Who knows, we may have service and drop some pictures along the way.

:woot:

I'm packed. Good thing I haven't put the back seat in because this sucker is full!!! Just need to toss my clothes in a bag and I'll be after Ian at O-dark thirty. WOO-HOO!!

I can't see it in the video, and I am sure I don't need to mention proper winching Techniques, but it looks like you need a weight on that winch line.
