K30 dually

1984 k30 single cab dually work truck
On the broken bolt, start simple and try to spin out the rest of the bolt with a small pick. Most of the broken starter bolts I've come across have not been hard to turn.

Thank you I will give that a try first

Thank you for the suggestions fellas. I was able to get that broken bolt out with a pick after making a spot to grab on to it with the reverse drill bit.

I got the starter replaced and figured while I was down there I would do the donut gaskets on the collectors. I didn't realize I had a heat riser valve on the passenger side. It appears that somebody had already "modified" it but there is no gasket sealing it to the manifold.

Would you guys recommend I get a delete plate or just find a replacement gasket and run it? If I were to remove it all together does the manifold accept a regular donut gasket or do I need to use a spacer?

The parts store doesn't list a heat riser gasket by vehicle but I did find a couple generic. Any ideas as to the right one?

On a side note I did notice a tag on the side of the block indicating it had been rebuilt at some point. Not too sure of the date though. Just says "2" so my guess is 2002? Looks like the cylinder was bored and both crank bearing and rod bearing surfaces machined.

Came out after work this morning to find a good sized puddle of coolant under my truck. Popped the hood and sure enough it's leaking from the water pump snout.

Checked my rad level and crossed my fingers as I drove the 60 miles home.

Stopped at Napa on the way to get a new pump and coolant and such. Of course it wasn't in stock so I have to wait untill later today to pick it up to slap it on. Guess I know what my afternoon looks like. :surepal:

Since the gas price spike I've been driving a hooptie volvo I inherited from my uncle. But my dodge is still down so the dually is still put to work often.

I picked up a new used garden tractor to keep the lawn at bay. Our other mower cannot keep up with the task any longer. The deck is completely totaled so it will now be demoted to dump cart pulling duty.

Its got the 6 speed manual with low and high and a 54" deck

Just got a stick wedged in my deck belt system and burnt it up yesterday. My lawn tractor is now a tow mule too at least until my new belt comes in:doah:

I've had reasonable luck with belts but the deck itself is totally destroyed. Warped and bent and on the shoot side all of the metal has been torn off. Already had to weld the hanger bracket back on once. Now all the spindles are about shot and blades bent. One wheel is completely missing. Just can't handle the terrain. We got the mower for free so it's done it's time. I've got most of the rocks and shit out of the yard so I'm hoping I can save on the new unit.
