K35 front lift

[ QUOTE ]
OK you hotrods, go out to yours and see how much weight you can put in the bed-that's the camper weight information. Mine is 3197. I guess that makes it a 1.5985 ton. If this is the only point you can find to make yourselves experts on, your A sucks buttermilk. Who TF really cares?

[/ QUOTE ] WOW, thanks for clearing that up for us... Somebody better let GM know that they have had it wrong all these years! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Better slow down there buddy, your arguing with some of the most knowledgeable people on chevy trucks around. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif
Why don't you do a little researching on your vin # and it should list what rating it is and when you relize that it is a 1 ton then your apology can be made and accepted. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just figured some levity should be introduced before everybody really got into a pissin contest. For what it's worth though, I've put damn close to a full ton in a half ton pickup and all was well. I've always been kinda curious how much is to much for a vehicle rating. Anybody know the fudge factor? Good luck to y'all.

Allan

There really isn't a fudge factor. The tires are the lowest rated component though. 15" car type tires aren't the best for heavy loads. 245/75s or 235/85s on the other hand with load range E can support damn near anything, and with them in duals they can do more than the axle IIRC. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah, you can put a lot of weight on or behind a vehicle that excedes the manufacturer rating but at a cost if it's done too much. It may be as simple as sagging springs or worn out bushings when done a lot over a period of time. Same goes for the running gear especially transmissions. My dad used to use our C30 dually pulling a 3 axle gooseneck loaded with iron gates with a gross weight of about 30,000lbs at times, he made several trips like this from California to Texas and back but at what cost? A couple of trashed th400's over only a few year period.

Dude , Spend a little time researching GVWR's and stickers of other 1-Ton trucks and you will learn a lot ! Your ride is just a 1-Ton truck . The only thing your ride has in common with a 2-Ton truck of the same year is the doors / dash / and some interior parts but THAT IS IT !
Like John said - good luck in ordering those two-ton front springs - if they don't fit just keep beating them with a big hammer .......
Do some research before you start bucking this crowd - like said in earlier post's, most everyone here knows of what they speak of !

Funny you haven't replied back after the last time. You probably went to the dealership and asked them about the GAWR and finally got the truth. Feeling like an a$$ now, huh? If you seriously believed your truck was a 2 ton, you would be driving one of those wheat/grain dump trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I was warned about the trolls on this forum. Those of you taking cheap shots can KMA. Those of you who think you're informing me, should re-read what was said. 29 posts, exacly 4 of them were mine-you are the ones making a big deal of it. I called it a 2 ton because the camper load sticker was dirty and looked like ~3900. When I cleaned it, actual was 3197 and I said so. I never claimed that the truck was designated 'Two ton' by GM. Now to the finer points.
BlueBlazer62 said "...doesn't make it a two ton". _Camper Load Capacity_ is the approved load _above_ the empty vehicle weight. 3900lbs is pretty close to 2 tons.
thatK30guy said "...overall weight of the truck" When did anyone say anything about vehicle weight?
nvrenuf said "...some (or all) of the vehicle weight is included..." So with rear GAWR of 6084, you think the rear axle is supporting 4000lbs empty? I'll take that bet.
84 Chevy K10 had it right-the springs are the arbiter of capacity, and GM says this truck can have 3197lbs in the bed. Over a ton and a half, that.
75-K5 said "...won't earn you brownie points..." So what? I don't eat dinner at your house. My misstatement doesn't justify all of yours. I never spoke to the GM nomenclature, merely the capacity of my truck.
rjfguitar said "...researching on your vin # and it should list what rating it is and when you relize (sic) that it is a 1 ton then your apology can be made and accepted." Hey, the VIN says the same thing as the capacity tag, 3197. What part of a ton is over 2k lbs? Apology? I started this thread by asking about lifting the front on the cheap, and you all turned it into a grinder about GAWR tags, which admittedly I posted when it wasn't relevant. NOT RELEVANT TO CAPACITY. Got it? I'd say that I'm the one owed the apology. Finally-
thatK30guy said "...Funny you haven't replied back after the last time." What, I'm obligated to stay up until you're all done a ss raping the new guy? I owe you nothing. You 'experts' are sorry that the new guy took his ball and went home, before even 24 hours had passed. WTF? I'm not here to make you feel good, and as 'the most knowledgeable' the onus is on you to maintain your credibility. I don't need that to ask questions, but you need that to answer them.
So. I'm not going anywhere, but here's some advice back-before you start flaming the new guy, check your reading comprehension and consider how much new blood you chase away by setting someone up for a good flaming rather than asking a question about the intent of their posts.
See ya around.

Eric

You were warned about the trolls of this forum? Man, if you think this forum is harsh in any way sell your computer now. This is probably the friendliest and most helpful boards I've found. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Really, you set the tone of this thread here;

This guy reminds me of Sample! /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Like I said...Go check your vin #...it will tell you what weight class it is...and when you relize the vin has the code for a "1 ton" class...I will be here to accept your apology for being an asshat. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You are asking to get branded asshat here in these forums if you keep being rude and acting like your a "I know it all baddass" that is obviously wrong. You say you will be around, if you continually act like you are currently your time here will be very unpleasent because you will have "asshat" branded on your fourhead. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif

Now whats the matter? Your pu$$y hurting now? Awwwww...cry me a river, moron. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I saw how you changed your sig....from "2 ton" to "1.5985 ton". /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif You obviously don't and never will get it. /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif I'm gonna leave it there and let you call whatever you wanna call that truck. Gonna be funny in the future threads and posts you make when you refer to your "1.5985 ton" and others are gonna go "what the f---?" /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Anyways, nice to have another cock knocker (thanks Canmore! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif) on the forums as we need more idiots like you for fun. I'll be around and reading your future posts unless you wanna go to the POR site and try to make friends with them. Let them explain to you about GAWR. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

woohoo... he forgot to include me in his rant/whine/cry

seriously dood, figure it out, the people who "warned" you about "trolls" on ck5.. are probably people like Sample who think that their negative input to EVERY post is welcome.. people here were just trying to correct you, to keep you from seeming like a moron when you insisted to the parts company that your truck was a 2 ton, but with a dana 60 and 14bff.. so kindly take what everyone says, use it as you want, or dont, but what you will find here is generally helpful advice, or will be a way to point you towards someone who can provide helpful advice.. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

See, this is a perfect example of how flames cascade.
I never said that. You're attributing to me your own misreading of the assertions of others. I'm not bucking anyone, they're throwing their credibility upon their own swords, playing off each other rather than read what I actually wrote and asking for clarification. *IF* I buy parts, I tell them it's a K3500. Whether I call it 1 or 2 or 1.359 ton has nothing to do with fitment. I guess sarcasm isn't anyone's strong suit around here. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

You clearly are stating that your truck is a 2 ton...blah, blah, whatever. Calling us these names and telling us that our "A sucks buttermilk" really goes a long way in making friends and trying to work things out. You clearly have a poor command of the English language.
I never stated that GM classified my truck as a 2 ton.
I never made any statement about the meaning of GAWR.
Notice how you have to lie about what I said to make a point.
Notice how without the lie, you have no point.
