K5 Blazer 2wd to 4wd

I want one to DD with the rag top! Kind of my summer ride!

Oh yeah, the steering box needs to be changed as well. Unless your going for crossover steering in which case your a step ahead....

Yeah, I worship that K5.

Mine will be getting the same treatment as that Blazer :)

Seems like a waste to me. Am I the only one who hates two wheel drive Blazers???

I think it's ugly personally

I only like the 72 and older body style lowered

That's like hating all 2WD trucks... There's no point. My K5 is very useful vehicle for me, and I've shifted it into 4WD like, twice... If it were 2WD, the IFS may even make it ride better on the street.

Hell, the Tahoe is just a "new" 4-door Blazer, essentially. Actually, NOT essentially. It IS what the Blazer evolved into, so, take that for what it's worth.

I do dislike all 2wd trucks, I just dislike 2wd Blazers more.

What does that have to do with anything???

* in Monty Python voice* Hush now I'll have yours!

It has a lot to do with this... They sell a sh!t ton of Tahoes & Yukons in 2WD. Obviously there's a huge market for a large, truck-based vehicle with a good amount of cargo space, yet no need for 4WD.

For the average consumer, 4WD only adds dead weight and more cost to an otherwise ideal vehicle.

If my Blazer was 2WD, it would be exactly as useful to me, and I'd like it just the same.

2wd trucks have their place. Perfect tow rigs. Why waste the money and towing capacity on a 4x4 when its never going to leave the road?

In the south, yes, they do sell a metric sh*t ton of 2wds. Around here, 4wd is a neccesity born of snow and ice. True, for most people, a 2wd is all that is necessary. I won't even look at a truck or suv around here if it's 2wd, unless it's a 2wd Blazer or some other classic that I plan on never driving in the winter.

However, there are people like who treat their body-on-frame solid axle-d leather cushioned automatic four wheel drive shiny SUV like a truck.:D And for that, 4wd is a must.

Yeah, I am still not getting what that has to do with my hatred for 2wd K5's. Anything newer than 1987/91 is of no interest to me anyway, except for parts.

whats with all the 73-87 2wds are gold mine talk?
They are pretty much worthless, look around they really don't sell well as there is no market for them, seems like people like other people to own them.

Often times its cheaper for someone to convert their 2wd to 4wd instead of taking a hit on selling the 2wd and shelling out more for the more popular 4wd.
2wds have alot easier of a life so the frames are cracked all to hell either.

I have a 2wd that I'm thinking of converting, they aren't worth crap around here and the best beat up 4x4 I can find is going for 3x what my 2wd would. I bought a K30 parts truck, have all the parts to convert and I still am money ahead rather than trying to start out with a stock 4x4.
For the record I love 2wds, that was my original plan.... slammed on 20s but driving 6 months out of the year sucks and it just didn't work out.
If anyone wants to "save" it let me know lol...

2wd Blazers are rare. I havent seen many for sale (maybe 2 or 3) anywhere near me where I have seen many 4wd K5s. As for C-10s, I looked for a clean swb to use as a dd for a while before giving up. I think they look great with a slight drop and up to a 18" rim. I dont like the "dub" look or airbags on anything personally.
