K5 blazer electric tailgate question

Hi guys,

my 90 k5 blazers tailgate has a rust hole on the top ledge of it, the motor is frozen, since i just bought this 3 weeks ago I havent messed with it yet.

but I got new carpet to put down, and really need that gate open when I'm working towards the back end of it.

Is there anyway I can lower the window from inside the access panel from inside the blazer?

I plan on buying a repro gate to replace my rusty one, but for now its gonna have to soldier on for a couple months.

When you remove the access cover you'll see a cable running from the motor to the window regulator, it looks like a short speedo cable. You can undo the motor end, chuck it up in a drill and lower the mirror. Beware though, if you do this a lot you can cause the cable to fray up.
