I want to take my top off, and I KNOW that my seals are shot so if I take it off I won't be able to put it back on without it leaking. They don't leak now, but I was wondering what part number or where to buy the seals from. Maybe universal weather stripping is the way to go? Just want to cruise around with the top off. Thanks in advance for the help.

I know LMC Truck and Brothers carry the weatherstripping needed for the top.

A friend of mine replaced the windshield seal and door caps with stuff from Brothers on his '72, but we did the topper to bed rail seals with regular weatherstripping...I think it was 1 1/2" x 1/4" foam rubber with the peel-n-stick adhesive on one side. That would probably work for most bed rail seals, although I doubt that this method would work for the header seal on the topper - it's a curved piece.

If it doesn't leak, how do you "know" your current seals are bad?

It's a common K5 problem, plus this top has never been off to my knowledge. I'm sure once I take the top off the seals are just going to rip apart.
