K5 Center console DIY switches, etc…

Forgive me if I’m out of place here, new to online forums (love it though). My 82 K5 has a pretty decent vibration at about 15 mph. I searched the threads and just didn’t see anything that hit home.
I’m at a bit of a loss here. 4” lift, springs and blocks (on when bought). It had the stock driveline (w/slip yoke), so I took it in to have it balanced and lengthened (came with new u-joints). Done and done. Still vibrating. Took the driveline back, re-balanced it. Done. Still vibrating. Then I flipped the driveline 180 degrees. No change. Balanced tires. No change.
It vibrates about 65mph too, but that’s about warp speed, so I figure it’s a built in warning sign that the whole thing is going in the shitter if I don’t slow down.
Replaced the trans mount, but that actually just increased the angle, b/c the old mount was oil soaked and sagging.
Vibration at 15 and 65mph. Related? Any advice is very welcome.

My best advice is to start a new thread to attract a better audience. :deal:

Iirc linking this, but it might be close to what you are looking for

@scouthead excellent use of the under hood light. :thumb:
yeah... those used to be hard to pass up at the wrecking yards! that was back before there was a pile of 6 dollar Chinese headband flashlights -batteries included, in every check out stand.

magnetic base, and 10-12 feet of cord with a retracting reel? I used to think those were the coolest thing ever. still have a few tucked away somewhere. I can reach both rear tire areas with that one on my seat.

i have enough fun with a 465 and ONE transfer case lever -what is going on up there in that photo?! Does it FLY???

It must take a cartoon octopus to operate that thing!

That’s good stuff! It’s just a twin sticked 205 and a magnum under drive.
I adapted the park brake handle from a 90’s Camaro because the roll cage wouldn’t jive with the stock foot pedal one. It’s nice because I can reach everything while still harnessed in tight.

I've got the largest Tuffy console they make with my CB stuffed in the spot for the radio. I added a panel in with a 12v outlet and USB outlets and a voltmeter. It has its own dedicated power supply straight from the battery. My amp is bolted underneath the console and there is a 500-watt inverter inside the console. The inverter has an ac outlet on the backside of the console to allow plugging in my laptop without passing the cord by the lid. I've since added another 3-port USB outlet to the front of the console to limit cords under the lid when shut.

I picked up a bracket setup that fit the rectangular Carling-style switches for the ashtray. They came from amazon and linked together with a tongue and groove setup. The opening only required opening up the corners to a square shape vs the stock rounded setup. It pushed in nice and tight. The switches snapped in. The empty hole ended up getting a dual USB outlet that fits the carling-style housing. It is nice to just close the unit when not needed. Out of sight.

all looks really clean and sorted out. no issues with parking brake getting in the way of transmission shifter going into reverse?

when I first got my blazer it was the only factory TBI/465 I had ever seen... all stripped down rubber mats/basic. there had never been a console in it, but under the rubber i found all the factory mounting holes- one junkyard console from same year suburban, and I was knocking drinks out of the cup holders every time I needed to back up, on a pro level

Thank you, no I made sure to check all gear locations before I mounted it. I purposely didn’t want any cup holders around all the electrical stuff because of that issue. I use a magnetic coozie and just stick my drink to the roll cage out of the way.

Some ashtray mods...
