Is the K5 gas tank inlet suppose to be at an angle like this? On my gas tank I think it may have gotten bent upwards when removing. Would it be ok to try and bend it down or could that cause problems?

I can’t remember how mine is but I’d expect the filler tube to have a slight angle upward so fuel goes into the tank and doesn’t puddle.
How much space do you have between the filler tube and the floor? On my K5 the filler tube is hitting the floor at the inlet neck.
Put a one inch body lift.
Bending this will most likely cause damage
My plastic tank that I just installed on my Jimmy has a flat filler neck. There are a couple inches between the floor and the inlet. I think a body lift just to install a tank with a bent filler neck is a lot of work and a bit extreme. You’d be better off trying to slowly bend it back down and try your luck.
I agree that the 1" body lift is an extreme measure for that particular problem, but it actually has lots of other benefits that makes it worth the effort in the long run.
Obviously the best solution for him is to return this tank if possible and get one that is flat.
I had never seen one like this before so it's not common.
Yeah I’ve thought about my 1” body lift on the crawler. Helps with drivetrain clearance and there’s other benefits.
