K5 Hardtop on a Burb?

Screw AC!

Ya just have to make sacrifices sometimes. My '91 Burb is nearly as clean as you can find an unmolested one, but once I get my suspension and drivetrain mods through the first phase ( I won't say "done" because we all know that word does not exist in a truck/4x4 enthusiasts true nature! ) the rear is gettin' hacked in favor of the blazer soft/hard top-ability.

No, I don't. :cool1: I have a '75 K5, so I can run full topless at anytime. Cruising around in the summer in a black Sub with no A/C isn't my idea of a good time. :doah:

Aggghh, I love the 69-75 K5's

I'll own a 69-72 as well as a 73-75 eventually. A Scout II, a mid-70's Ramcharger/Trailduster and an origional Bronco are all going to be parked outside at some point.

full-convertible in a built ORV just can't be beat. Funny, I hate every single convertible car ever made.

go figure

refering to the green burb,,would i have to make the cut down in front of the tail lights & swap in a whole tailgate? I "don't" have the barn doors on mine.

just wondering if the burb tailgate would work, & if the glass could eventually roll up into the top?

My buddy with the lifted burb on 20s posted a few back - he had a stock Blazer gate that he used - I'm not sure if a roll up Sub tailgate would work or not - that seems like something that someone I'm sure has tried before on this site?

If anybody has pics of how the roof is done I would be very interested in seeing that. I'm looking for a top down view. Just need to know what is involved in transitioning from ribs (burb roof) to smooth (K5 lid).

I cut, very carefully, the ribs that run lengthwise off of the top....then you need to remove the support rins that run over the passenger doors.....

I plan on filling the hole I just cutout with sheet, so the roof looks stock....not like a hack job.....

I'll get some pics for you in the next week....

BTW, when I cut up the blazer, for the Burban, I removed the roof of the Blazer and with some trimming I am using it to take up most of the area above the burban's passenger compartment, aka 2nd row seating area.....
