K5 New rear axle?

How does that look from the rear?

I was looking for a good pic of mine, couldnt find one, but there is a glimpse partway into this video. These are 10.5" wide tires on stock 15x8's, with a 67" axle.

I'm surprised a 70" doesnt look significantly wider, especially with another 2+" tire width! As you can see in the video though, the tire is still barely inside the upper fender opening.
 
Thank for the help! Here’s my options

1) rebuild the 10 bolt with Yukon shafts, truetrac, new gears and bearings, disc conversion.

2) buy new style 14 sf with disc, new truetrac, new gears, bearings and maybe shafts.

3)Use the k20 donor truck with 14ff and eight lug front hubs. New rear bearings,gears, truetrac, shaved with turned ring gear, disc convo or keep drums. Use easy inch and move axle rearward 1inch.

Remember this is a daily drive 6.2 diesel with 3.73, 33 inch tires,NV4500 and 3 inch lift. I’m looking for street manners and mpg.

If you are going for road manners, which is the only thing you can expect from a 33" on a 14bff why shave and turn the ring gear?
Is it because you read it somewhere or had a friend do it?
 
Lol shaved 14 bolt on a dd. Huge waste of effort.
Option 2 would be a lifetime product even if you change the drivetrain later.
 
Mostly stirring the pot on the shaved 14. The sf makes the most sense I think.
