"Function dictates design."
Because you have the meansto do so, build based on what you want, not on what you have. Figure out what you want to do with your rig and build accordingly.

I think the 73-87 pick-ups require a different build approach. You run into problems with sliders mounting, saddle tanks, wheelbase, belly armor, et, that you wouldn't neccessarily have to deal with on a Blazer. The truck bench seats are extremely unconfortable on long trips and you'll end up adding buckets. If you have long legs like me you are limited by the back of the pick-up cab.

The bonus side of a truck is carrying capacity, I do a lot of hauling so having a multipurpose truck works better for me.

If you want a different kind of challenge then build a truck. If you don't want to deal with additional problems then build a Blazer.

I am a lover of pickups. Both times I have had an SUV as a daily driver I regret it whenever I need to haul something. I personally for some reason enjoy bench seats over buckets...got me why...It just seems like I cant ever get the bucket seat adjusted just right.

That and pickups are a Dime a dozen around here...K5s of any gen seem to be rare...Ive never seen a 1st gen K5 in person.

How about a k5 with a pickup cab and front fenders mounted in the front and rear?
