after calling a few glass shops I realized they are serious and have no idea what to do with a '74, particularly the rear tailgate glass

shipping wont' be fun--San Jose, CA

Let me ask my guy up here

I'm not up there anymore: at least not until I rebuild: if your glass guy has advice on what type of shop to call or even knows someone it would help a lot. I'm over by Stanford campus now, so more or less North San Jose.
I know you said San Jose but either they deliver or you come and pick up.
As long as we can find one

Got it: the clutch is out... Had a floor jack in the back to pull transmission, except someone walked by and wanted the jack... now I can't take the K5 to shop for clutch because no glass to lock up and can't get glass because no clutch. It been like this for two years. I don't drive much anymore and even less in pandemic. My son asks me every day, did you get the Blazer fixed yet...

just another step on the new glass project: it turns out getting new sliding side windows isn't just a click and buy option: as best I can tell, I would need to salvage OEM windows and rebuild them, something like this https://www.motorcityk5.com/i-13101-sliding-rear-quarter-window-rebuild-kit-73-91-blazer.html

the topic comes up on CK5 every five years: each time the same answer--go get salvage glass and rebuild them and that the sliders weren't designed that well

You still looking for rear glass, I have one up in Tahoe
I am: is it clear OEM glass without too many scratches or edge chips?
The next question would be how to get it here--ushipit maybe: I was about to buy glass new replacement from one of the online stores

I will pull it out from storage and have a look at it and take pics. Tahoe road trip to pick it up? From my 73 but should be the same. I have a truck tailgate now.

sounds good: I can arrange for pickup--I had my entre K5 moved once by uship and it went well: it could save on packaging the fedex would want, if the price+shipping gets too much above what the new glass online cost then that would probably be the end of that (I'd rather help get this out of your garage than get new glass)

If I make a trip to Tahoe in the next couple of weeks like I think I might I will let you know.
I am halfway between you.
U was there last week

that could work: my clutch is out in the K5 (can't fix the clutch because glass is out--shop can't secure--and cant fix the glass because the clutch is out), I can grab a truck from zipcar and drive up (I haven't been to Lincoln in sixteen years after being there almost every other week for years, I have a cousin to get lunch with)

Cleaned up and took some pics. Looks pretty good but pictures don't show much. Some fine scratches you can see if you zoom in. But can barley see otherwise. Marks around edges where it attaches. Is $60 a good price?IMG_0447.JPGIMG_0448.JPGIMG_0449.JPGIMG_0450.JPG

Ok, just let me know when or how you want to get it.
I will send you my number and figure that out--my wife and kids are telling me to get going now that they heard I found a back glass: my son for some reason wants to just drive around in the K5 at night, somehow he really misses that

thank you, @LAZYMON -- that was a nice opportunity for me to get out of the city and get back out into the mountains: we forgot to get a photo. Also, thank you @imiceman44 for offering to fly if I buy, I just could not pass up an opportunity to get back out someplace with actual pine trees

I made a good two-day round trip and stopped off at my Union Hall in Sacramento--Laborers Local 185--and caught the general membership meeting, which I had not attended since COVID hit

it might say something about who I am, but the only thing I did take a photo of was the new 24-hr taqueria I found in Placerville and the one around the corner from my father-in-law's place in Vacaville (I was sending these to my wife so she could see what she missed by not going with me)

It's always good to go out of the city.
I try to do it every chance I get.
We are planning something after the craziness of 4th of July

Good to meet you Forest, glad it all worked out. Thanks for the beers!
Hopefully everything stays safe for you: I'm watching the news on the fire and it has turned a corner where all of social media is pausing and asking is that real there are flames in Sierra Ski Ranch--which people are asking, what is to stop the fire from there.

Sending all the best wishes and mostly just for safety
