K5 Round Headlight Bezels Black center or argent?

Can anyone confirm that the 1973-1974 blazers had black paint inside around the headlight. I got a set and they are Argent or light gray.
I have seen photos that look black...just don't know if they were done that way later.

Any official evidence that black was the color instead of "dark gray" which is just matte argent silver?

Are they dark grey or just faded black? I vote black. Larry cleaned his up last year and went with the go-to black satin tractor goodness. Looks sweet.

The new ones I ordered a not even dark grey...they are barely noticable as have a different color in the center

I dove into Larry's flickr account to see if he put up a pic of the refurbished bezels he did when he put the grill in last spring. I can't find it, but this one is close. He went satin with it.

I remember watching Overhaulin’ and Chip Foose said how he does a soft edge and for some reason it stuck with me, never tried it though. What he said is to peel back edge of the masking tape and fold it onto itself so the sticky part is exposed to the spray area. Hope that makes sense, kinda hard to decribe. Maybe I can find a video if it doesn’t.

I always assumed it was originally black on my 73.

wow..even in the little channel that goes around it. I wonder if it was black on only certain trucks and certain packages..Cheyenne..? Maybe pickup only? Maybe Blazer only?

This is going to cause me to have to get a 4K OLED tv and cue Jaws up to 11:04 seconds to verify.
Definitely black center. but ring is inconclusive.

I just cued up Jaws but I only have a HDTV but it sure looks black with a black ring....maybe somebody has a 4K television and can look for me.

The dealer booklet page in there tells the story.."Headlight Bezels Chrome with Black Trim".

It makes sense...the 73-74 Cheyenne had the black trim everywhere...including the door handles
