Does anyone know of a company that makes a snorkel kit for a K5? /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

I hear that a snorkel to Toyota Landcruiser FJ80 will fit better than that FJ40. What I now it's a Fj80 snorkel on that suburban in the movie Dantes Peak.

Yeah Safari Snorkle a division of ARB makes them, and the one for the FJ80 is almost a perfect fit.

But PVC is starting to sound better (cheaper)

i'm gonna get one,fj 80 eh. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

This gets as much air flow as through the grill? Seems more restricted, but maybe just a visual effect.

I like the idea of the cooler air from outside. Under hood temps can get alittle high. The abilty to cross deep water is a big plus for me.

The primary use, of course, is to ford water but, a really nice thing is that they help keep dust out of your air filter. I guess that when you are truckin' along most dust in the air is about 3-5 feet from the ground.

Yes, but the important thing here is the fact that it is cooler air, not to mention cleaner.

Seems like I would catch it on every passing branch in the world!

And, if your tailpipes aren't that high, you can really only go forward though water eh? Computer equipment?

There's so much stuff in addition to a snorkel for waterproofing, it'd take a few threads to cover it all...

Well, I would be interested in reading all I could. Where should I go to read up? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

How about this snorkel on a turbo'ed 6.5L diesel? I can't think of why it would matter, just thought I would ask before dropping the $$$

I would worry about the size of the intake tube, your going to need to make sure your getting enough air in to feed the engine. I was going to look into it myself for the same reason, but havent had the time yet.

Cheers, rugger

I was once told that as long as your car didn't stall, having your tailpipes under whater wouldn't mater. I don't know if it's true.
