K5 Snorkel

For everyday driving I wouldn't recommend leaving your filter exposed. It's important to remember to design your snorkel to keep rain out. Mine is designed similar to ARB's in that it will break raindrops apart and let the water drain at the top before it gets in the pipe that leads to the intake.

I can tell you that I started last weekend with 15' of vent hose to use for my axles. I'm going to do the trans and transfer case next. I used 5/16" fuel line.

The distributor is another key issue... a little silicone around anything that water might get into is a good place to start. Make sure your TBI/Carb is sealed nice and tight - my snorkel connects directly to the stock air filter housing, Sooooooo a lot of sealing and mods had to be done to it to make it waterproof. Use dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections under the hood and make sure your wiring is in good condition and is not frayed - copper doesn't go well with H2O. I sealed a lot of my electrical with liquid electrical tape, this works very well and is much safer in water than actual tape. I would recommend buying an optima battery as well. I just picked one up when I found that I was having starting and charging problems due to dirty water that had seeped into my old battery. One of hte most important things to seal is the spark plugs. Murphy's law (as mentioned above) bites me in the ass constantly, so I decided long ago never to take a chance when it comes to mods that can be done cheaply. I used 800 degree gas pipe sealing tape that I picked up at a local hardware store to seal each plug. I also sealed vital electronics under the dash and purchased a marine alternator. The alternator will require a couple of mods, so this hasn't been installed yet. Hope this helps! /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

I haven't tried that one. Webshots deletes your pics after awhile if you don't pay for a membership. Imagestation is free with unlimited photos.

i have a 208 t case and i lengthened the breather, it kept blowing the hose off because of the pressure the slip yoke makes goin in. i think it will blow seals apart if i kept it on with a hose clamp so i cut the t case hose so it only goes as high as the transmition hump.

I drowned my truck in a water hole that was up to my rockers /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
It took about 5 min. to get it started again and when I did it sounded like a boat idling in a lake LOL
It was my first water crossing and I made the rookie mistake of hitting it to fast /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
It was fine once it would start again /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
