I have countless hours and 3 today trying to get my tailgate to shut and latch correctly. I can not get left side to latch even tried shimming out further and opening holes in latch bracket on body and pulling it in closer.

I can get latch to click twice when tailgate is down but when shutting it only clicks once and can pull it open on driver side.

Tried till not sure what else to do but look for a used latch. Anyone out there help a guy out. I really want to FIX this tailgate Finally to many problems from it since Raptor lining inside and new weatherstrip.

Thanks Brandon

Does it work if you manually operate it?

I may have a spare one around, but I'd sure want to make sure you don't have the same issue with a new one first.

Like a video or pics?

I don't know as a video will make a difference.I can visualize exactly what you are saying is happening. If it only clicks once, obviously the striker isn't pushing the latch far enough, for some reason.

Unless you see something bent in the mechanism, it sounds like it works properly, still sounds more like an issue with how it interfaces with the bed latch.

I haven't spent a ton of time on mine, but I can tell that getting the tailgate to line up properly, and get the latches to actuate properly, would be a real pain. Heck, I took mine all apart and still can't get the window to work right lol.

How are the hinges and roll pan? If they are loose or rotted away from rust I can see an issue.

It is hitting bed latch fine if you compare to pass side. I even put washer to space the bed latch more. You can shut tailgate and pass side latches but driver side does not even if you push it flush.

Feel like pulling my hair out over this tailgate!

Hinges good no roll pan or bumper on truck right now or torque rods.

image.jpg image.jpg Think I figure it out look at the rivet it goes to lock piece that shoul click twice!

Now how to fix correctly thought about welding it but not 100% on if it needs to rotate. Thought about aligning and mushrooming it out more.

So what would you guys do?
