Well it can be done, but you will need a suburban donor truck and lots of work, but I like it, it would be cool, like the later model Astro van with a lift gate and 2 barn doors.:thumb:

Somebody just had a post on one on here. Looked cool, I wouldnt want it though, you wouldnt be able to take the top off :dunno:

Oh I see, mis read that. So make a hatch for the window that pivots on the top???

Well that is what I would be doing if I ever have a K5 again, but he didn;t go that far, he was just thinking topless.

I dont see the point if theres no top, Why not have the tailgate to sit on and it gives you more area to haul stuff on. And you cant grill hot dogs while wheelin on barn doors

never had em, but if I had a burb, that's what I'd want...

well i found barn doors.. ima get em n build a prototype im really into the idea.. and im.building a safari top

I'm honestly 50\50 about this idea I think it'd be interesting and I could put the top on it.. but with barn doors wen I build my bumper with. Spare tire swing it would get in the way

On a sub yes of course...on a blazer no,I think it would look kind of...crappy. :dunno:

But what the hell.

Not really, some burbs with barn doors have the spare carrier mounted to the hinges of the doors. Don't see why you couldn't do the same.

If hes not having a full top on it, then access wouldnt be any different because the glass would never be up. But ok carry on, ill watch :waytogo:
when you open the tailgate, the window is not up, but the tailgate is still in your way, you can't reach all the way inside like you would with the barn doors.

can u get a pic of the spare tire swing on the door hinge

I cut the darn doors in half on my suburban when I cut the top off and they are flimsy even if they were plated on the top. Looks cool though.

You will need a Suburban Tailpan and hinges to make it work.

well, i found some doors and i have planned it out to where the hinges will be spaced
(ill still have to use 2 on each) and the height. im still trying to figure out if i want them to latch together or have them latch individually to the bottom of the bed. (above the bumper beauty bezel thing)
