K5 vs ROVER

SICNICK said:
Im I the only one who will call BS? Do you KNOW how steep a 40-45 degree hill is, but that is beside the point, you still say you made it up in 2wd and he didnt, The locking option in his rover is a Center or (centre since it is english:haha: ) locking differential. Anyway, these are a COMPLETELY different setup up and shouldn't be confused with a locking differential. All that locker does in the Rover is split all the engines power a true 50/50 between front and rear axles, ( same as any of our transfer cases) Most rovers, in my personal experience, still have open diffs, NOT the new ones obviously.

Anyway, not to bash you to hard Rovers are HUGE pieces of Sh*t, like most english cars, hahah. New ones are good cause they are now owned by Ford(atleast american) Id take my trusty rusty chevy over a Rover ANY day, even if I was on an African Safari!:eek1:

ok ok i might have had the angle a little off but not by much it was pretty steep but like you said it makes no difference but when im talking about lockers i mean he also has lockers in the front and rear so add to the fact that he has the lockers and is all time 4 wheel drive you right it was pretty embarrassing

I went back and re read your first post and saw your buddys Range Rover is an 88. They are nothing like the newer ones and far far lighter. They weigh out at around 4300 dry. They are powered by a very anemic 3.5 V8 that puts out a whopping 195 ft lbs of torque. (My daughters 4 cyl VW Jetta 1.8 T puts out more than that:D )
There is a reason they have to have lockers all the way around.........If they didn't you would never be able to get them out of the mall.
Back in 88 you could have one of those offroad beasts for $31,375.oo
Quite the bargain:haha:

My 89 Blazer orginally sold for around half that price.

you are all funny> I work for rover and though I love my blazer to death and can go anywhere they go and more, the rovers are totally cool. talk about doing it in Luxury. full leather, navigation that you can have a conversation with! adjustable Ride hight? 98 and older are pretty week and the traction control is not that great. 99 and newer got better but still only a center locking diff and traction control(whitch is the shiznit of TC systems) it works really well. Lr3 and Range rover sports have center and rear locking Diffs(on HD models) they are just near incredible. They have an incredibly low CG and will handle up to 46deg banks. our test track is 38deg of tilt over and they dont budge on it. We are doing an off road event this weekend to Anza Borrego and Occotillo Wells.

I think twice about who we are with off roading. after the last off road event we will not bring newer vehicles with us(especiall new chevy trucks.)

Not to bash other cars but they are really durrable off road and other trucks just are not built with that abuse in mind.
