Re: K5\'s score 1000+ on the ramp (pics)

Micah- Thanks again for the info. Just one other thing I can think of at the moment is what drive shafts are you guys running?

in addition to the tailgate, springs, and axles i got off the CUCV pickup i bought, I also took the driveshaft and had it lengthened for the rear so I could have it balanced. Prescott is running a High Angle Driveline rear CV shaft with a 1410 at the axle, and Jeremy is running a 2 1/2 square tube rear shaft with a slip yoke to his np208.

all 3 of us are running 2x3/16 inner and 2 1/2x3/16 outer square tube shafts up front and they work like a charm. With the shackle moved forward and the longer shackle up front, you will use a lot more travel in the front shaft... more than the stock splines can offer.

He didn't move his shackle mount up front

Did he change something? I helped him move his front spring hanger forward.

I think Micah ment I didnt move my front shackle point. Not my front spring hanger.

Yes, we moved my front spring hanger to work with the 52" springs up front, I didnt extend / move my shackle for the front springs though.

Ah Ha! I never saw you guys ramp. I must have been over at the sand drags. I wonder how mine will do? I will see next time. There is another run out there on the 26-27 of June. I may try to make that one.

Secondly... I just have to post some of my own pics in here, I'm so proud!

This is turning out to be a great post. Who made your front square shafts? How much $$$? How much travel do they give? 1350 joints? Thanks. Oh, one more thing I thought of, how did you mount the top of your rear shocks? Thanks again.

Jeremy actually made all our front shafts, (mine, prescott's and his own). Prescott and i just used the 1310's up front for now (jeremy is running rockwells) but i'm sure at some point we'll both upgrade to 1410's. Steel prices are pretty high right now, so try to find some guys to go in on the sticks of tube with you. We used 2 and 2 1/2 inch by 3/16 and just ground out the groove for the seam on the inner tube. they're probably good for about 16-18 inches of travel. Way more than we'll ever use.

My shocks are mounted on a peice of 2x2 angle iron with some flat stock welded on to run down the frame rails where its bolted on. Prescott went with a really good idea of using C channel.. not sure of the measurements... maybe 2x1x3/16.

They measure out at 48 on the truck... my 42's only measure out at 40 on the truck.

/forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif And they are priced as 49" tires? Wow that's good /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

Re: K5\'s score 1000+ on the ramp (pics)

Here is something else to consider... This is my truck with the same rear suspension as today, but with 4 inch lift springs up front. The tires in these pics are 36 inches and I didn't have any shocks in these pics (was waiting til after i got around to the 52 inch spring swap up front). big difference having similar flex front and rear can make!!

Re: K5\'s score 1000+ on the ramp (pics)

So you figure the rear 56's have as much flex as the front 52's? Also do you happen to have any close up pics of the suspension/shock set-up?

Thnx
~Max
