I know I've brought this up before in regards to the soft top. And a kill switch was recommended, which leads me to ask what kill switch would work enough for a carbed mechanical fuel pump truck?

So carbureted mechanical fuel pump Chevy takes one jumper wire and a screw driver to steel.
Locking steering wheel just needs the screw driver a 2nd time. No kill switch will defeat it.
You'd be better served by a tire/wheel boot.

I have 2 on my Blazer and I still have an urge to install a tracking device. I don't have any top for mine so it kills me that I don't have a way to lock it up.

(of course, this isn't so much of an issue if I never pull it out of the shop :doah: )

Yep. Needs to be drivable to steel.

Mine is stored inside. GPS tracker and a ground shut off that can not be seen without looking hard. The tracker bypasses the ground shut off so it is always on.

Best bet, easiest I can think of at the moment, would be a normally closed electric fuel shut off solenoid.
The truck would start and run till fuel in carb was gone.
Put solenoid under truck hidden away. Stash the switch someplace hard to find

What I use in my driveway is a thick chain wrapped around the brake to the steering wheel. Looks ridiculous and isnt really much of a deterrent but, it's something.

with this carb mechanical set up, there really isn't much.

you could take the battery out of the vehicle and carry with you?.

Get a tracker. The thieves around here use roll back tow trucks and scoop them up. It looks like a legit tow truck picking up a ride, no questions. The Diesel Fords have been getting snatched in 30 seconds or less, the only ones that get recovered are ones with trackers.

This is the one my nerdy tech buddy uses on his race cars etc. He is a computer techy and I value his knowledge. This is the one I think I'm going with.

could you put the power to the HEI on a toggle switch in an inconspicuous place?

This is the one I have.

I know that has battery backup, but will it function if the battery is disconnected for extended periods of time? Truck sits in same spot for weeks at a time, so i have battery disconnected to reduce draws, etc. when its going to sit. Until it gets into a garage and access to a battery tender, battery will be disconnected regularly.

what i need are the ones in movies/tv shows that just attaches to the underside of the body/frame and has its own independent power source. Though I guess a savy thief/chop shop would find it and remove it during chop process. Hopefully it would be recovered by then.

They claim 7 days of backup. I have a battery disconnect on the Jimmy. I wired this to stay powered always. I let it sit with the battery disconnected since Blazer Bash. Started the Jimmy today with no issues.
