Who, What's, When's and how's of a D60

All you need to learn about King Pins can be found in several places.

First, click here for the Dana 60 Bible. It will tell you everything you need to know, especially about the designing and strenghts/weaknesses.

Second, click here for an article on Dana 60 Kingpin Rebuilds. It'll take you from A-Z and back again. Very informative.

Last, if you still have questions, please refer to my post and you can see a complete tear down and build up of a Dana 60 King Pin.

I would chose a King Pin axle simply because the ball joint is more susceptible to wear than a King Pin is. King Pins can go 20+ years before an overhaul must be done. There are exceptions to that. I haven't heard of ball joints going that long, but again, I'm a relative new comer to Chevy's so some of the other more experienced mechanics here can take you further.

Just my .03 cents at the current rate of inflation.
