lol, yeah... I wouldn't even bother putting them on a civilian rig...they serve zero purpose as far as that goes. Maybe for a rollover, sure.
It would definitely make it a lot easier to roll the machine over by hand if you're just one person too. All these new big bore machines with horsepower to "make up" for the ****ty gearing are getting way too heavy for a guy to roll over by himself in the field. Having another foot or so of leverage right there and a solid beam to grab on to would make things a lot easier. Makes a lot of sense for that specific scenario.
These 500+cc machines piss me off. They have way too much contact pressure and rely on wheel spin to get through everything. My old Big Red and Quad Runner (quad runner had a 3 speed range box, 5 speed manual tranny, and mechanically-operated front diff locker, it was awesome) had way less than half the output, but had the same if not wider tires than most come with now and weighed several hundred pounds less. They covered the exact same terrain just as well, but did it on half the gas and broke a lot less parts. Not to mention how much less they tore up the swamps. I'd probably consider buying a new ATV if one of the manufacturers actually built a 250-350cc fully-independent suspension, all disc brake, selectable front locker rig with injection or at least a decent carb. But they'd have to go back to putting a real front bumper on there, no gay plastic racks, and maybe some wheel bearings that weren't .25" apart from each-other. Might as well just put one bearing in there if you're not going to space them apart at all. It's like the engineers have never heard about bending moments
