Mean while i bought at dually dana60. Moved into the new house, got married and the 1 ton swap got put on hold. 2 years it set frowning at me. Just waiting.
 
Bought a dana70hd for the rear for $150. Boy is that thing heavy. Took out 4 grown men. Put 14 bolt srw hubs on it to match the front width and bought kurts rear disc brake kit. Got a killer deal on a yukon locker.
 
That pic was with the wifes 42's. Ill get to her truck later. Those new 7" shackles from diy4x look so so good
 
Its good quality stuff. Theres a few things that arent weld on. I only have a little 110 wirefeed sparkler. Friends let me borrow there's or helped me. Spent years saving parts up
 
Got a 15,000 industrial warn winch from 4wheelparts garage sale for $300. Gaaa i love my friends. My buddy that works there walked with me pointing everything good out and got me the hook up. No line but ill get synthetic at somepoint.

Mean while a friend needed to get his dually out of his apartments before they towed it. I offered free storage at my place because hes a good kid. Long story short he gave it to me. I robbed the 454 out of this 91gmc dually. SWEET running and all. Before i took the motor out i tried doing a burnout. Didn't work out to well. Burnt the transmission up. Just my luck...

A free 454 is worth having to deal with a dead trans. Good day in the acquisition department.
 
So anyways i pull the 454 and 2wd th400 together. Wanted to build the th400 for the ole k5. I pull it and found GOLD!!!! Thank sweet baby Jesus all 8 pounds 9oz's! Its a 4L80E Wooohooo! Granite its the old style but non the less a FREE 4l80e. Except the fact i toasted it trying to do a burn out...
 
Well i start looking into it and since i hate computers i bought the transgo full manual shift kit. That day chase approved me a 10k credit line... oh mother mary i just messed up.... i bought the winter art carr shifter, a 2,000 stall converter, 300m input shaft harden steel front drum to hold 5 clutches instead of 4. Cuz mores always better =))

Playing in her truck really made me miss my ole k5. At this point id had her for 6 years and shes been down 2 years. I broke down. My wife and i are all ready married but having our actually ceremony at a local ohv park called river run. Its beautiful out there. When we first started talking about marriage i said idc where its at as long as k5 is there. She said ok. Fast foward she LIED!!!! Lies i tell you, now no funds, lost my job and i got a wedding to pay for and still no k5.
 
Long story short i racked up my credit cards on parts he he >=) and now have plenty of time to work on the truck. No i promise it wasnt in the plan lol.
 
Unfortunately i dont have a shop, no welder and spent a fortune on sawzall blades. I only wish i had a concrete slad or a big air compressor. I did everything with wrenches, an A frame and a LOT of will power.
 
Found a job that didn't last long but long enough to buy a good cage that a guy had cut out of another k5 crawler. Drove down to austin and did 120mph back i was so happy. All 120 dom tubing.
