le sigh. Water pump no good? HELP!

not too familiar w/ sbcs, but on my 6.2, a number of the bolts go into the water jacket, so to prevent leaks you have to put a sealant on the threads. just something to consider if it fits your application.

not in canada :(

cheapest cast pump available is 119.00 locally.
I'm in the US, just out side Detroit, Michigan, I just looked up some prices

all these are new

$25.99 for a long, standard rotation
$29.99 for long, reverse rotation
$25.99 for short(web order only)

I got these prices from www.autozone.com

how far are you from New York?

might almost be worth driving to the US to buy one

meh it'd be tight. I'm about an hour from ogdensburg NY.

50$ + shipping from ebay just reaks of convienance.

Keep in mind that those "high-zoot" aluminum pumps are also high-flow, so it's not just a weight thing.
The hi-po pumps at Autozone are exactly the same price.

I don't know why you can't see the link but here it is again:
http://stores.ebay.com/whiteperformance1

If that still doesn't go through for some reason, just go to eBay and look up the user "whiteperformance1".

Here's his long pump:

You'll be on the road again in no time! :waytogo:

Actually, the 67-72 used a medium length pump, there are three differant length smallblock pumps. The corvettes of the same vintage run the same pump. This can cause alot of confusion at the parts stores at times, it's not well known.

......are the long and short waterpumps interchangeable?

Can a long waterpump be used to get the fan closer to/into the fan shroud?

Thx and sorry to highjack, just curious.....:D

It would throw off all of your belt alignments. Better off just using a fan spacer.

Yes, but the pulleys, brackets, and all the acesseries are dedicated to that one style.

The chances of a water pump just randomly starting leaking from the sealing surfaces have got to be about 0, especially if you've already pulled it once.

It can happen, it happened on my 98 350 yesterday, blew one of the block gaskets out somehow. ;)

But when was the last time your engine overheated because the factory water pump couldn't keep up with demand? ;)

Better question: when have you ever heard anyone complain about too much water flow?
