just put my dana 60 in the front of my 87 suburban. the brake lines are leaking bad. i filled up the resivoir and one trip around my neighborhood and the entire thing is dry. i put new crush washers on both sides of the brake line where it bolts up to the caliper and tightened the thing as tight as i could get it. but they still leak from there. is there something i should look for? or something i can do? has anyone else had this problem.

thanks

Dirt, corrosion, maybe there is an extra crush washer on the calipers.

i tried cleaning it off pretty good before i put them on there. would it be a wise idea to use some tamper seal or gasket maker to seal it up?

If you used the brake line that was on the 10B (I did), you have to shave it down just a touch so it will be flush wit hthe D60 caliper.

Yea, what he said ^ and also inspect the mating surface on the calipers. They could have a knick allowing fluid to leak.- In which case I would use some RTV and always check it. . . IF its not a DD that is.

I'm not sure that heat will help if he is having the problem that I did. The fitting on mine had a raised area shown in the pic. (I know that its not the right line, but this is just to show where theproblem was). I used a flapper to take just a touch off and it now fits perfectly.

Yea I had to do the same thing and my lines are ss superlifts with the block type end.

Brake pressures are thousands of psi, RTV has absolutely no chance of stopping that.

Make sure that there isn't a washer stuck to the caliper or line.

CBBR and Mudstud likely have you on the right track.

Don't tighten small fasteners (i.e. caliper bolts) "as tight as you can get them". Also, bleed the brakes before you drive it around the neighborhood (you would have found your leak sooner anyway).

ok thanks guys. yeah the problem was i put two crush washers on the above the brake line underneath the bolt. and the bolt that was on the d60 (same one im using now) already had a crush washer built into the bolt it looks like.

no more leaking brakes! but they are leaking from the top of the brake lines on one side. easy fix.

anyways thanks i appreciate the help

The banjo bolts don't come with the washer on it. It is just stuck on there. I would change it out later on, but then again, if its working don't mess with it right! Glad you can finally stop!
