Leaking/smoking radiator

If this temp sensor was working before, there's probably something wrong with the new wiring. Replace the sensor with a short to see if the fan turns on. "Divide and conquer", so to speak.

he stated it worked with out the sensor, I read that to mean when grounding the relay wire to the sensor the fans came on.

I grounded it to fire wall and fans ran. So... I left it at that and drove it around the block a bit for the first time in months. Ordered a new sensor so we'll see. I also had melted shit on there and maybe the temp sensor failed as well along with the melting stuff and blown fuses

We tested by bypassing the sensor and it kicked right up. He said the sensor was on for the 6 years he had it and however many years the PO had it on there. Thinking it's possible at some point the tube got a microscopic crack in it maybe transferring it over or possibly the contacts in the sensor microswitch gave up.

I'm too lazy to go back to the beginning - did we find the initial failure. smoke was let out of one of the fans?

Steam was coming out and the fans failed to come on. Fuse blown and it melted and the relay fuse box thing on the front wall had melted terminals...

So after the install and rewire everything is doing what it's supposed to other than temp sensor kicking fans on.

I messed with temp sensor dial and fans never came on. Engine reached about 210 and nothing. So I shut it off.

Wired ground to firewall to have fans on upon start up. It stayed around 178-182 while I took it out for about 15 minutes drive.

Did you @JoshHefnerX get hands on ?
No, I wanted to get over there but he's on the far side of the valley. Didn't have the time. Be almost 2hrs of driving before any help was given.

Got a bunch of stuff going on at the house right now. Wife decided this is cookie week, so she takes the week off to bake. Mother-in-law stays this week to help decorate, and a/c guy been showing up every couple of days. Wife relies on me for logistics. Hopefully the new unit is in next week and done deal. I know... Excuses. :-(

My wife makes 300-400 sugar cookies 200 or so gingerbread men, 2-3 eggnog pound cakes, maybe 100 russian teacakes, 100ish rumballs, 100 or so neiman marcus cookies. and 50-100 snickerdoodles. It's not for our eating - mostly for others. Friends, family, work. ect.

Oh and the peppermint candycane cookies...

DAMN , if y’all don’t have enough friends or etc… show up for all that baked goods cook’n I’m only about 3,500 miles away and can be there somewhat directly so none of that cook’n effort goes to waste.

Y’all have a great Christmas!

Ok... took it out for about an hour. All seems fine. No leaks, overheats or anything other than pure Blazer Badassery on the streets of Gilbert, AZ.

Trucks turns heads for sure, makes me turn wrenches and Tylenol bottles but I'd have it no other way.

Smiles for Miles....
