Anyone ran some LED light bulbs in their roof console dome light or under the dash lights, etc ? Looking for who you bought them from and how they improved the interior lighting.

I'm running LED's in all locations for the dome light and under the dash light near the passenger foot area. I bought them from www.superbrightleds.com and their pricing and shipping cost are very reasonable. I am very happy with the results, they are nice and bright and draw 7 times less energy than the bulbs they replaced.

would you happen to have a link for the exact model you bought, there are several choices it looks like. I thought the light by your foot was 1003 and the dome light in my console was 211.

I've replaced all the lights in my truck (outside and all dash lights) except for the dome lights (haven't gotten to those just yet) with lights from superbright LEDs as well. They are so much better than stock lights. I can email you all the ones I bought if you'd like. I highly recommend them.

My old 99 Suburban I replaced all the bulbs with ones from superbrightleds. I was pretty happy with them, but wish I would have gotten a brighter dome light.

I've got a custom Grote domelight.... quality stuff...

The dome light is a 4210-CWHP12 and the light under the dash is a 67-CW2W

If you want more options than the factory light, try these LED light strips! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flexible-30...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item415ea385bc Yes they are from china/hong kong, shipping takes about a week plus a day or two. The US sellers sell the exact same thing from the same source in china, only they charge 3-5x the price only because its a 'US' seller

Low profile, water proof, flexible, can be cut to length, insulated ground (so its easy to connect to dome light since dome has switched ground) and They're only $1.75 each. Autozone sells these exact same ones, 2x for $20.

For under the dash: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-1156-102...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e678e3786

It will fit the socket under the dash and the clear dome lights they sell at autzone too (which works great under the hood)

The WHITE 68 LED 1156 bulbs fit the reverse lights in our trucks. The RED 36 led 1157 bulbs work great for brake/turn lights. and AMBER 36 led 1157 bulbs for the front. I've just changed ALL the lights on my truck to LED for under 40 bucks. Guages, dash, warning lights, turn signals, all except the bed light. It uses some weird two post pos. ground. bulb that I havent found yet.

What he said.

Any of these give problems with the factory wiring or various systems because they draw less juice? I know LED bulbs in turn signals have been known to cause problems because the relay can't tell the bulb is on.

Ok, heres a list of What I've used on my truck:

For the stop/turn signals, front park light, and back up lights I used: 45-LED Tower Type 1156 & 1157 Bulbs Back up lights are 1156 and the turn signal/stop/park lights are 1157

For the dash lights, side marker, and rear sidemarker/park light:
WLED-x5

And for the light bulb at the airconditioning/heater controls:
1-LED BA9s

All the dash lights I got the Cool white color. All the others were the appropriate color for the application. Like it says you want to get the same color LED as the lens for best results. (so for the dash turn signals and high beams I got green and blue lights) Since the LEDs draw so little current compared to the normal bulbs I had to buy these 6 Ohm, 50 Watt resistors. The load resistors are required for the turn signals only and installation is easy as you don't have to cut any wires.

As for the dome lights I was looking at this: UPCB series Universal PCB LED Lamp with Mating Bases

I did notice two issues, One was with the front turn signals and front side marker light. By factory they are wired to wig-wag when you have the parking/headlights on and turn signal flashing. I had to rewire the side marker in parallel with the front turn signal so they both turn on and off at the same time because the LEDs in both lights draw too little power to do the wig-wag function anymore. Though the rear is not wired to wig wag like the front, I wired the rear side marker and tail light in parallel with each other as well. So now my side markers only turn on to flash with the turn signals. Hopefully they be a little more noticeable during the day.

The second issue was now the system drew so little power that turning the turn signals on would cause the dash lights (leds) to flash, and the opposite side would very faintly turn on as well. This was fixed by adding a 10 Ohm, 10 watt ballast resistor to each side connected to the turn signal positive. 4

I noticed Walmart has some interior 12v automotive strip lighting available. The packages have a 'press and see' button so you can try them out. Seem quite bright. Can't recall the prices though.

What about LED undercarriage rock lites? I think I'd like to get something to help with terrain assessment and the odd night time stucks in mud and snow.

Wow that gauge cluster looks amazing with those LED lights, wonder how much that would set me back, and I'm also under the impression that you can't dim them then right? Need to order up the first set first to get going on the truck.

Heres a picture of my gauge cluster with the LED lights. I hope the difference is apparent here. The picture doesnt do it justice. (the temp gauge is blocked by the steering wheel)

I did both dome lights and footwell light and found that 1 of the 3 glows very dim with the doors closed. Actually didnt notice it until driving at night. I did the cluster lights and found that i cant dim them. Guess its becasue i need to add another resistor to get the voltage down low enough to make them dim. All the bulbs i got were from china on ebay and they been in for a few months with now problems
