Christmas is coming up soon, and even though my best is not the healthiest truck, I'm going to do the wise thing, and get some 33" mud tires... I would really like to go with some 15" wheels due to tire selection options... my truck is a BONE STOCK k20....

so who's running 15's with a 3/4 ton drivetrain? Could I see pics of the grinding? what's your backspace and wheel width.

I am running 15X10 white spokes with 4.25" backspacing. It took about 3 hours per side to do the grinding and hammering. :eek1:

I went with 2.75" backsapcing on 15x8" rim on my 3/4 ton and could have probably gone 3.25" with no grinding. It worked out good though since I have no frame rubbing. Wish I could have put the tires in a little further, but it looks OK as is, not a lot of people are like me in that I don't like the tires to stick out past the fender at all :D
 
I run 15x10's with 4.25 inch backspacing. That grinding was a bitch. I think it took like 4 hours to do both sides. My hands hurt and I didnt want to see a grinder for a looooooong time!!! And I was tired from moving that 35" tire on steel rim. But it works. Just :grind: then when you want to test fit just :grind: some more.
 
i just ground off my caliper i put my 15x10 wheels with 3.5 backspaceing on and they woulent turn not even with me standong and grappling to the lugs of the tire it took me like 3-4 hours to grind off one side no digi cam so i cant take pics to help you >.<

sorry no picture of just the caliper, but thats a 15x8, 3.75" backspacing, I can grind the calipers in under 30 minutes now, with just a 4.5" angle grinder. After you do a few, you'll get the hang of it, they crank out pretty quick.

I'm not even removing 1/4" of material, and it clears just fine.

screw all that. I think I'm just gonna run some narrow 16.5's and cross my fingers that I don't blow beads in the mud :doah:

so you didn't have to grind at all with a 2.75 backspaced wheel? you have 8 lug, 3/4 ton stuff right?
 
So is there a certain backspace that can be used on a 15" to clear 3/4 ton gear?

Will 16" wheels clear with no mods?

I guess I'm leaning toward 16's.... but there is just such a limited tire selection. I don't guess there's anyway to run 15's without massive grinding huh?

I guess I never really looked into 33's so i cant say that the selection is limited. Probably more limited to tread selection rather than brand. 16's fit with no mods because thats what came stock. Gotta grind to fit 15's. Which tires are you looking at?
 
I have done a few. The best way I have found is to turn the ginder on it's end and cut a line around the caliper 1/4" deep. Then all you need to do is remove the rest of the metal to the end. Also if you can have one of your tires unmounted from a rim it will make it easer on your back. A paint stick will help out a lot, to see the rub if any.

I'm looking at Boggers or TSL's.. I know I can get 33's, but if I wanted to get very much bigger in the future, I would have to change wheel size. Also, They don't even make Hawgs in 16's. And I've been considering those as well.
 
Mine took my about 3 hrs per side! Grind grind grind, put tire on.... grind grind grind. Repeat A billion times. Do this durring the day if you can so you can see.
 
i had to do no grinding at all to fit my 15s on my truck. my wheels have 2.75" backspacing. with a 10" wide wheel, it sticks them out a ways.

Absolutely friggin Awsome :bow: ....... where did you get them? I love the wide stance, even if it is hard on ball joins :D .........
