Hopefully Kert will be welding a set of his beadlocks onto my steelies next spring and I'll make a trip down there, from seeing his attention to detail on here I'm sure the truck will be killer, one of the reasons I plan to make the trip myself.

Y'all prolly know, but the 78-79 also bolts into YJ's. Same spring perch width. I think this has some to do with the high cost. It doesn't help that 4WOR said it was/is the "best" axle made

uhh no they don't. If a 78-79 bolted right into a YJ, so would our Chevy axles. They need to widen their spring spacing to fit a full size chevy or ford axle.
I think the reason most people dont do the swap is simply because of having to change the tcases. I know of 2 people running them and I believe that both are running the ford versions of the NP241 with slip yoke eliminators. Personally had I been more knowledgable when I built mine I would have gone this route. Hi-pinion, 2.68:1 low, fixed yoke with the option of getting a driveline e-brake.

I've broken 3 knuckles (well, 2 broke & 1 cracked) & Dedenbear has been a lifesaver for me. I did all 3 with nothing more than a stock steering box. I had the ram assist on when I did that roll & wish I had video of that pic, I was steering & still trying to drive before the pic was taken. If you look real hard my ram is on the drag link, so all the stress of the box & ram is going through 1 knuckle. What can I say, they dared me to try & break one.
