That's a clean rig you got there. That front bumper is so low profile that I can hardly believe that a winch could fit behind it. Do you have any pics of how the winch is mounted?
There is a stop built in that keeps the tire from hitting the quarter panel, but the lockout hub is great for locking it in any position. You never know what angle the vehicle will be parked at - or maybe I need to drive with the tailgate down. Also, the hub and bearings are the same as my front axle, so that makes it spare parts. I have a rubber cap that fits over the lockout to keep water from pooling in there.
I came up with this after the trailer spindle broke and dropped my carrier + spare in the street. A lot of these pictures are intermediate stages. Since then, the whole unit was powdercoated. It looks just like the front bumper pics I posted above.
Eh, the truck will just bounce if the hoist breaks.
Plus the failure mode is usually that the hydraulic cylinder loses pressure gradually and the thing just pfffffffffffft goes down, like your willy as you get older.
