Lets see some pics of your restored or "being" restored chevy.

Just had to post up because I am super excited, I will most likely be picking up a new (to me) blazer either in December or January and driving it from So Cal where its at back to Texas where I live.

RXM6, nice original blazer, you wouldnt want to sell some of your original interior parts would you???:D

Here is a pic of the blazer, just needs the interior cleaned up a little bit.

Frame and suspension are complete and working now on the rest of the drive train.

Rob nice job on the frame, that thing looks spectacular, definitely show and drool worthy. Wanted to ask how you prepped it, what you coated or painted it with for it to have come out so well.:ears:

Thanks and are you kidding? I'm pretty anal about my cars and finding/restoring these original interior parts has been really difficult. To top it off, most of the parts available for these old trucks is made out of cheap plastic. I ordered headlight bezels only to find that they were plastic. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to put plastic on my truck.

Btw, I should mention how shocked I was to A) find the original paint codes in the glove box and B) find out they still made the paint. And UAO85, nice color.

Anyway, here's more up-to-date progress with the original paint as it would have left the lot in 1975:

Hey JP,

The K5 has been at a stand still. I rebuilt the motor and did some other work on my other project and that set me back. I'm hoping to get back into soon. The next step is to mount the motor and trans so that the complete chassis and drive train are complete and I can concentrate on the body.
Keep me posted on your teardown and rebuild.

here's my "being restored" 89 Suburban.

the engine, trans, t-case and drive lines are out of it right now. it'll eventually get a new engine, trans and front axle. all of this is of course, waiting on funds... story of my life.

My 1989 Suburban. First shot is when I first bought it about 7 years ago. Paint got way worse before I repainted.

Here how it looks now. Not a total restoration job but a new paint job and a rebuilt 350 :D

I have thousands of pics, but since i can only upload 10 at a time, here are some from the projects I've done to it just this year alone.

  • New BFG 33" ATs
  • Found a very poor condition full-convertible top. Riveted it back together, rolled it with Herculiner, painted the inside and resealed it... then of course installed it.
  • Completely redid the interior, new carpet, door panels, urethane dash pad, dash bezel, custom quarter panels, faux black leather upholstery,
  • Restored the center console and painted it black
  • Had 35 year old Smittybilt bumper welded up, stripped and powder coated in satin black
  • And most recently, finished upgrading to a new Classic Auto Air R134a AC retrofit kit, installed a new condenser, new evaporator, new hoses, installed a pusher fan on condenser that switches on with compressor
  • Now, the truck is back at the body shop getting the front fenders replaced - started to have rust come through... again. Time to swap the severely patched originals out for repros. I put it off as long as possible, as I really didn't want to install reproduction fenders. I'm hoping it all turns out okay.
