Let's see some woodgrain Blazer/Sub pics

There actually THREE woodgrain styles.

I should have saved the pictures. There was auction several months ago and the guy had all three dash insert with three distinct woodgrain patterns on it. 73-74 was one style, 75-76-77 another, and 78-79 yet another. I'd have to look again, but I have the GM parts books for all the 70's, and the part numbers changed almost every year.

I've been piecing together 'woodgrain' interior pieces for my rebuild, and yes, I've run into somebody saying woodgrain, I get it, and the pattern is different from the pieces I have. I quickly learned the differenciate the pattern I need. Sadly, it was too late to determine that pattern I ended up using is not for a '73, but the 76 style. Oh well, still looks neat.
The hardest piece(s) to find are the woodgrain steering wheel, and the woodgrain rear side panels. The steering wheels I see from time to time, I have one, buts it's badly faded. The side panels I NEVER see on ebay, not 70's versions anyway.
Take a look at the pictures in this post and the auction from a current eBay listing ,they show the steering wheel and side panels with the '73 woodgrain pattern.

73k5, you're right about the three woodgrain styles, I left out the '77 model year. The '77 Model year had a very light (teakwood?) style woodgrain that was only used that year. But in '78 (and through '80), anything that would have been woodgrain was replaced with brite aluminum trim.

Here's an ad for a '77 Jimmy interior...

Here's a picture of a '77 C10 for sale online with enough camera flash that the lighter woodgrain can be seen. It looks pretty good, it's too bad they only used it for one year...

Here's a link to a sweet webpage where they have magazine ads for Chevy and GMC trucks from 1969-1991. It shows alot of good info for pretty much everything someone restoring a truck to factory specs would want to know:

Yeah, I may have mixed up the years sorry. I was going from memory. There were 3 styles in the 70's is all I really remembered for sure. Sorry about that!

Wow, I never seen that brocure site. He's almost got Dremu beat.

Wish I had the Pic

My dad had a 73 3/4 ton 2wd green w/woodgrain suburban. I rode many a mile in that thing as a kid...memories.

Kind of off the subject of woodgrain, but I oftentimes buy parts on eBay I don't need just because they're THERE. I came across these '73-'74 Blazer fender emblems yesterday and bought them just because I NEVER see them for sale ANYWHERE. $10 plus shipping. :D

I found some NOS 73-74 ones, I scoured the earth for them. Finally came up with 2.

Now, if you find ANY (new or usde) 73-74 Jimmy emblems, grab 'em. You never see those!

DAMN, I'm jealous.
I've been scouring the earth for those emblems. I've gotten a couple sets out of junkyards, etc.... but I would need to refurbish them.

Mind if I ask where you found them?

I'm currently scouring for thos emblems, and the woodgrain dash bezel pieces, and the door pieces for my '74.

My 'burb used to be orange with the wood grain ..........

Now you got me thinking. I will have to dig through the pic. drawer (this was before digital) and scan in some pics so I can post up.
