Just a thought that occured to me reading another thread about back seats.

No pics of it but in my 73 I would just unbolt the seat and turn it around. Couple of 6x9s in boxes set out in front of us it was great.

Now with the Jimmy its a fold and tumble rear seat and this works AWESOME

There is enough space under the chairs that Bailey crawled under the seats to go to sleep during the second movie and we carefully put Sawyer down there when he fell alseep too.

Still just a couple of 6x9s in small boxes for noise but hoping to set up a sub.

The sound is good enough that one guy asked me to put the speakers up on the side so he and his kids could sit out side of their car and watch the movie.

Who else has drive ins. Blazers and Jimmys are awesome rigs for said event

My vandura pulled in backwards with the rear doors open or closed. Depending on the womans preferance :D

Drive-ins still exist? :eek1:

We used to have some around here. Every once in a while you drive past a section of overgrown unused land with a massive theater screen sticking up in the midst of it (very apocalyptic looking). Other than that they have all been cleared for business or parking type stuff.

They bull dozed our drive in about 17 yrs ago. I loved going to them. Wish we still had one.

We have an extra twin bed that we used to stick in teh back of the blazer when we went. Now that was nice and comfy.

Now we just take the car and park normal. Otherwise my wife always falls asleep or we have to smell someones cig smoke.

There is the remains of an old Drive In just down the street from my house on Rt.44 in Lakeville MA--screen is still up but its pretty rough!....I remember going there many times in my first car,a '63 VW Beetle...its all overgrown now,I'm surprised no one bought the land it sits on,its a pretty desireable area for bussiness...The "Tri-Town" Drive in that was in Lunenburg MA used to be right in front of my sisters house, you could watch the movies right on the front porch, the screen was maybe 300 feet away, all you needed was an AM radio to tune into the audio..I watched "Deep Throat" there back in the early 80's!....now its gone, and "subsidised housing" for the poor now sits where it was...:(..instant ghetto...My best friend's parents when I was in high school owned the Skyview Drive -In in Brockton MA ,we used to go there a lot and watch movies while he worked the concession stand..it was cool having access to free movies and food,he used to get laid just about every night there too,the lucky stiff!..I remember his cousin who was a cop in another town coming there sometimes in uniform, and he'd walk around to the back row,and people would toss bags of pot and beers out of their cars and drive away..we never had to worry about lack of party goods!..:DI used to take my '72 K5 to the drive in often, with no top on it...seems like it rained almost every time though,so I started leaving the top on it...I liked the top on better,I didn't like making out with my GF in front of the entire audience much, and she hated it too...one the top went back on,hers was a lot easier to take off!..:D..I think there is only a few drive ins left in MA now,one I know of is in Uxbridge MA...I think what killed them off was the VCR,and the fact a lot of them were getting bad reputations for being just a parking place for kids to get wasted in and then drive home drunk or stoned...not to mention all the unwanted pregnancies that were conceived in them......I miss those days though...kids have nowhere to go today, thats part of the problem with vandalism, they get kicked out of any place they go park, and get bored, next thing you know they are wrecking things and getting into trouble...

Their going through the paperwork to put a new one with 3 screens up near me (30mi away). We currently have one 20 mi away with one screen. as Adam said a van is great. my old cargo van had no rear seats, just a bunch of bean bags:whistle: We would back up kick the bags out the back, line 'em up, and turn it up. I had brackets that I could turn the 6x9's around (partied alot behind it:D) and a set of 12"s We had people all around us ask for it turned up so I TURNED IT UP:haha: Was an awesome setup:thumb:

I still have the brackets for the 6x9's. I made them on the mill in high school as a project. aircraft aluminum, slide in and out with a set screw to hold.

Sucks so many drove ins are gone. There are 2 local to me and another pretty close, packed most nights

There is one an hour away from here. I like to go, but don't get there very often.

Only useable two months a year up here :haha:

Open about 3.5 months down here. Some years they will close and reopen on certain weekends depending on weather.

So it can be as long as May to Sept but its usually about June to mid sept

We still have ours in Belleville, open about 5months a year, my dad used to go there when he was a kid. When i first drove there they still had the mics you hung on your window, now its all wireless through the radio. The problem is kids tear **** up nowadays and people dont want the hassle of cleaning it up, so they just do no trespassing instead. Something else similar to this that is gone is old restaurants like in American Graffiti or Dazed and Confused. My dad still talks about how cool that was seeing all the muscle cars and "huge" trucks on 33s hanging out in the parking lot lyin about women and talkin about cars/trucks. haha, wish i coulda seen the 70s

we haven't had a drive-in jersey since probably the 70's, maybe early 80's...

The Home Depot down the street from me was built on drive-in hallow grounds. I still hear old movies while strolling the hardware section. Before it was the HD, it was a massive BMX hangout with a very large track.

The only other one I know of was used for fleemarkets for years, then torn down for a new college building.

There is a drive in about 17 miles from me. Drive by it from time to time.

Never been there though. I got a thing for "HIGH" quality sound.

I don't know, sound is over rated, drive in theaters are just plain fun.

Yep, my home theatre isn't quite setup cause I haven't decided how to hang the speakers from the ceiling at exactly the height I want them at. Hopefully soon to have a bigger sub and then move my smaller sub to the surround channels. Next step is to upgrade the receiver. That will be a while because mine is a pretty nice Onkyo right now.

I would load up a recliner and the wifes rocker, grab the hibachi grill, get there early and cook off the tailgate, then sit and watch the show. I miss the drive-ins. They are all gone around here.

The drive in is one thing this little town does have to offer. My set up is a pair of 6.5 eclipse mids with sep tweeter in doors, set of eclipse 6.5 mids and sep tweeters and a pair of 6x9 memphis powered by kenwood 400x4,a pair of kicker l7 powered by 2 kenwood 800x1 amps and a kenwood media server head unit sounds good and everyone around us can enjoy the show

Drive-ins still exist? :eek1:
Oh yeah! Theres a drive-in 4 miles away in the next town thats been up forever. And its still going strong. They do 3 movies a night during the spring and summer months. Start out with G or PG movie and finish up with R rated or equivalent. I remember going there every weekend back in the younger days. Not just to watch movies if you catch my drift.
