I'm going to be pulling the a/c box and want to do something (??) to cover the leftover hole. What have you folks done..?

Run your intake in through it to the glove box! That's what I've always wanted to do... I just can't convince myself to remove the working a/c, although I never use it.

I used one of these plates, has a rubber-foam backing-- if you want one let me know, I have a few more.

Are you doing away with the heater too? I wanted the evaporator out of the way, but needed to keep the heater so I cut and fiberglassed my box.

I'm planning on getting all of that stuff to eliminate clutter (both inside and out). We don't have a long winter down here so if I find I need a heater I'll add one of those stand alone units from Summit.

I had alot of rust on my firewall, so I cut almost all of it out and redid it with a few angles and used a piece of stainless steel to cover the ac area. Still need to do something to the dress up the other side.

Hey John I'm at work so I cant post pics, but just look through my build thread. I covered all that up with a thin piece of plate. Then I have my air intake running through there and a K&N cone filter under the glovebox area

How's the engine noise inside the cabin?

Headed to your build thread now. :thumb:

I took out the factory A/C and put in a factory heater box. The firewall is different between an A/C truck and heater truck. The heater hoses go though different spots though the firewall and the large hole for the blower housings are different too. I cut a piece of aluminum plate to cover the A/C holes and cut another hole for the heater blower housing.
If I was going to do it again, I would just cover the holes and put a Mojave heater in.

There is a company that sells an A/C delete blower housing for A/C trucks.
If you got a some $$ click here.

Thanks guys for the pics and info. Just took out the A\C and now I'm at this point too.
Wanna cut-out the whole dash to clean the wiring up.

You gonna go the DIY Aluminum dash route?

What are y'all doing to seal the metal patches so water, etc doesn't get behind them?

seam sealer or silicone should keep the weather out. if you run the air cleaner through the firewall how do you keep the elements from getting in between the tube and the hole in the firewall? also JN, is that a 1/2 master in your pic or a 1 ton master?

I dont really notice it that much. But then again I hear the exhaust more, since I currently have no transmission tunnel in the truck :doah:

that a/c delete piece isn't that expensive...$150 for a cleaned up firewall that will still have heat, i've been lookin for som'n like that!

Here's a pic of my setup. The plate is held on with rivets, then I ran some black RTV around the edge
