Lift questions for diy4x parts

the flip kit will give you a net of 4" lift in the rear, you will still have to address the front...

Ok i am planing on buying a 1979 k5 blazer 4x4.

I have heard of this site http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=125

The question is! if i order there shackle flip,7 inch shackles front and rear,ez inch, how much of a lift will that give me?

Flip = 4"
7" shackle is 3" longer than stock which = 1.5" lift
EZ Inch's = 1"

This will lift the rear (only) approx 6.5"

You will still need lift springs for the front to match. Do not go with a 7" shackle on the front unless you're doing a 52" or 56" spring swap as they will drive your pinion and caster angles into the dirt. The 7" shackles are not a bad product, they just have an intended purpose.

Well how do you sugest lifting the front to match the rear?

In the rear i will be doing shackle flip,ez inch, and 7.25" shackles in the rear.

How can i lift the front to match?

Front lift is achieved via lift springs only (springs with a greater than stock arch). NEVER install a lift block on the front.

How much lift do you want?

Look thru the vendor forum and hit up those folks for the front springs, ORD sells Tuff Country which is a very good spring although I think 6" is their limit. For 8" springs you'll need to loo at Superlift or Skyjacker brands.

Don't forget; you'll need u-bolts on the front and maybe the rear, steering correction parts and probably driveshaft mods @ both ends.

give us more info like :

whats your intended use of the truck ?

what size tires ?

fyi doin 52" or 56" front springs is a big can - o - worms. needs lots of work to get right. NOT a bolt in job.

if me i would go mabye 1" longer in the front shackles. then 4" lift springs from tuff country. then add a zero rate and bolt it in so the axle moves forward . helps clear bit tires from firewall contact.

rear 4" flip kit . 1" longer shackle. zero rate again for level out needs.

ord 1" body lift/bushing set. then if need be trim fender corners.

on blazers over 4-5 inch lift needs lots of driveline work. keep it to the 4-5 inch limit on suspension.

I am just going to use the blazer to mud in and go to the beach....

As for tires i would like to run 33s-38s so probably 35s lol.

35" will be perfect if you do what i listed above.

4" front tuff country springs + 1" zero rates move axle forward . new top plates to accept the moved axle. diy4x ( kirt ) has those to.

4" flip rear + 1" longer shackles and 1" zero rate for level out and mabye move the axle back for more center look in the wheel opening. and new top plates for movin the axle back.

nice set of longer brake hoses from www.offroaddesign.com.

4 new shockes like here http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255835&highlight=super+duty

that gives 5" lift and room for flexin off road. plus 35" tires fit great.

raised steering arm for knuckle on axle for steering correction.

if you want stupid simple to start leave out the new top plates and zero rate blocks. then bolt on 35" tires with 4" lift and trim the back corner of the front fenders.

and 37-38" and up will require a lot more lift than 4" . my buddy use to run 7" of total lift and 38" tires and still rubbed.

Hey sweet30k0 this is what i am thinking of geting.

Front springs http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/186702.html

Rear shackles http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=113

Shackle flip http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=125

ez inch http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=128

Would these things here give me 6 inch lift? Also on the rear shackles i will be geting the 7.25" i found them new/used for really cheap...

6" lift = drive shaft work front and rear. and more than likly c/v shaft rear at around 500 bucks alone.

also dont need 6" to clear 35" tires.

not tryin to talk you out of this 6" but letting you know ahead of the game.

and kirts usdr shackles dont work with his flip kit. his flip kit converts to plate shackles for more flex.

Awww ok! so then all ima do is shackle flip, ez inch, rancho 4 inch springs.

Now which shackle do i order length wise? they have 4.5" 6" and 7.25"

So just by doing the shackle flip,ez inch rancho 4 inch springs i wont have to do drive shafts?

I am trying to go as cheap as i can.

withthe extra inch and if movin the axles around might need some drive shaft work.

i run k30 1tons so i cant say for sure on short blazers.

most i can say now is read/search/read/search for a bit then ask few more question and get it right 1 time for lots of extra time to play.

we got ya covered on askin question. we will answer to our best we can. :thumb:

Doesn't Kert or DIY4X have a B-52 option for the front that is a pretty cool set up?

Well if i go to a 6 inch lift i will have to get drive shafts out of a chevy 1500 and then get those cut to fit the blazer? this i have no clue about simply asking because that is what i was told i could do.

I think the best plan is 4" springs, zero rates, shackle flip, swap to 56s, a 6" rear shackle......be friends with cutting wheel and sawzall
And you can stuff 40s no problem......oh yeah, you might want to add a 1"
Body lift too.

The most work involved is the shackle flip!

Damm guys, those are some great detailed replies to the OP. That's why I love CK5!! You guys rock!! Very detailed!

Well i think as of right now i will go with 4 inch springs, shackle flip, zero rate, and thats it right now. i wanna do bolt on stuff for right now.
